No matter the sacrifice, Elizabeth Whitbread would serve a wounded family. No matter the danger, John Costin was determined to speak God's word. Neither expected to fall in love. As enemies threaten to silence Costin - and those close to him - will following their hearts cost John and Elizabeth everything?

"A time in history I don't know much about"
A time in history I don't know much about, namely about the Puritans in England, but was fascinated to learn. Great story based on real people. I really enjoyed it.
"This skeptic converted"
I will admit, I hate to jump on any kind of book bandwagon, and when all my friends started raving about this book I thought-- yeah, probably not for me. But then I started reading Jody Hedlund's blog and she really knows the craft of writing and I thought...maybe I ought to give her book a read, even though there was a "bonnet" on the cover. I am so glad I read this. What an amazing story. When you start reading, you think, how can a story about a breadmaker's daughter be exciting- but the story takes off quickly and then you're hooked. This was an incredible read and I can't wait for the next book to come out.
"Did not enjoy this book or reader"
This book is set in England. The reader has a very plain all American tone, it just doesn't fit with the story setting at all. I do not feel the writer "wrote" to the potential this story has, being that it is based on actual people and historical events. Things just didn't add up for me, but if you are not a stickler for historical accuracy than this might be a good choice for you. It is based on wonderful characters and an interesting time in history. As for me, I just couldn't finish it.
