A slow burn

After stumbling across the author's second novel, Mr Doubler begins again, I enthusiastically purchased this book.
it took me quite a while of patient listening to get into it, several chapters in fact.
However, now that I've finished it, I can honestly say I really enjoyed it.
The story was cleverly constructed, and the pace of the story mirrored the pace of the lives and country it was describing.
Bearing that in mind, I'm looking back over the whole experience extremely fondly.
As with Mr Doubler, I'm left with a sweet warmth and a quiet joy and satisfaction at the end.
I highly recommend sticking with it, even if at first it feels difficult.
I really hope there'll be another novel published by the author soon.
