He's a player in more ways than one.... College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he'll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he's worth a second chance. Now he's going to need to up his game....
After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She's not a charity case, and she's not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He'll have to work for it. This time around, she'll be the one in the driver's seat, and she plans on driving him wild.

I listened to this as it was a sequel, but it lacked the depth and intensity of its predecessor. it was a nice story and well told. However I found myself drifting off whilst listening.
A middle aged woman who hates running & uses audio books to drown out her mind screaming for mercy.
Again this story could have used a male narrator & hence the score. The story is really sweet but not enough to give you tooth ache. It is a really good story let down by the narrator. You cannot have really manly men portrayed by a woman trying to do the 'voice'
"Loved the story but..."
The Mistake and The Deal are two of my favourite books released this year. I could re-read them over and over. I was so excited to have them available as audiobooks
But as with The Deal, the first book in the Off Campus series, Audible Studios chose a terrible narrator. Lorelei Avalon's whiny, nasal voice did nothing for me and it threw a damper on all the witty banter I was waiting to hear between the main characters of Logan and Grace
PLEASE DO NOT USE LORELEI AVALON FOR THE SCORE!!!!
"Unfortunately, the narrator ruins a weak book"
I failed to heed reviewer references to a "not the right one" narrator on these novels. I figured "Hey, how bad can it be, since I like sports romances ... a lot."
Well it turns out that it can be very bad. The character voices are Very similar, to the point of creating a puzzle regarding who said what. Then we have the manly athletes throwing lots of fowl language around while sounding like asthmatic young girls ... or the occasional asthmatic little old lady when they are expressing strong feelings.
A great narrator probably could have salvaged the prose portraying a whining protagonist's endless introspection about lusting after his room-mate's girlfriend and other topics. But it was pretty tedious, even though I usually can summon a high tolerance for sub mid-list prose.
This book is possibly better as a print book; then you can just skim through the repetitive introspection (aka filler?). At least this would omit the distraction of a bad narrator. But I think most people will regret spending anything on this audiobook.
I'll be curious to see if Audible will leave this review up after I return this mistake.
So much fun. Loved every minute of this story. Great H/h with banter galore. Can't wait for the next one!!
"I LOVED THE BOOK, but...."
I loved this book, as well as the other books in this series (The Deal and The Score). ... Loved, as in I have re-read them more than once. Unfortunately, it loses A LOT in the audiobook. The narrator is talented as a female narrator. However, I will never understand why authors (or is it the publisher's decision) who write books with alternating POVs elect to use only 1 narrator for the audiobook. The suspension of disbelief is difficult when the tough hockey player hero sounds like a girl with a cold instead of a guy.
Other than that, it really is a great story that made me smile all the way through. The Hero really has to work to get his HEA, but not in an over the top I am so annoyed way. It was funny and heartwarming. Unless you need the audiobook because you have a long commute, definitely read the book.
Enjoyed it just wish it was read by both female and male narrator! Just didn't seem to "flow" correctly with a female narrator reading Logan's part.
"Listening to This Book in Audio is a Mistake"
Read this book. Don't listen to it on audio.
I loved this story - it ranks up there with my favorite new adult romances. Unfortunately, the narrator is not right for this book. It really detracted from the enjoyment of the audiobook. Other than that though, it really is a sweet love story. I just recommend you read the book rather than listen.
The story was really well written. I really enjoyed that the characters seemed to mature so much throughout the story, especially the heroine.
The conflict resolution for Logan's family situation was the most rewarding part of the story for me.
Yes, she used different tones and styles for each character. There were parts later in the book where I could tell which character was speaking before the story actually identified who it was, because Lorelei stay true to each style she developed for each character. I didn't love that the dual POV was narrated by a woman. A larger percentage of the story was from Logan's POV and it took a while to get used to hearing his thoughts in a woman's voice.
Yes, when Logan broke down and cried with Grace's father.
Heavy in the 'foul language' department, but it seemed relevant to the characters and the story.
"Great story! Not so great narrator"
I LOVED this book. However, the narrator has a whiney voice and didn't do as well as I'd hoped at portraying the characters. Hopefully she's not narrating the next book.
"this is one of the most boring book "
this the most boring book I have ever red it just bad book narrators make it intolerable I had very high hopes for this till I opened it
"one of my favorites!"
I really enjoyed this book. It had some lovable characters, a few laugh out loud moments, and definitely several intents love scenes as well.
