Brook Eden has never known where she truly belongs. Though raised in the palace of Monaco, she's British by birth and was brought to the Grimaldis under suspicious circumstances as a babe. When Brook's friend, Justin, uncovers the fact that Brook is likely a missing heiress from Yorkshire, Brook leaves the sun of the Mediterranean to travel to the moors of the North Sea, to the estate of her supposed family. The mystery of her mother's death haunts her, and though her father is quick to accept her, the rest of the family and the servants of Whitby Park are not. Only when Brook's life is threatened do they draw close - but their loyalty may come too late to save Brook from the same threat that led to tragedy for her mother.
As heir to a dukedom, Justin is no stranger to balancing responsibilities. When the matters of his estate force him far from Brook, the distance between them reveals that what began as friendship has grown into something much more. But how can their very different loyalties and responsibilities ever come together? And then, for a second time, the heiress of Whitby Park is stolen away because of the very rare treasure in her possession - and this time only the servants of Whitby can save her.

"Most Romantic Christian Historical Romance Around!"
The voice actress/narrator left something to be desired with her French accent. The heroine, Brook, has been raised in Monaco and has spoken French all her life. I almost stopped listening to the audiobook because of the awful accent the narrator gave her BUT since I was SO looking forward to reading this special book by Roseanna, I gave her a one chapter chance and I am SO GLAD I did!!! Because this book was wonderful!!!
This book is a lifetime effort by Roseanna. She began writing it as a young girl and has revised and rewritten it numerous times. It's hard to bypass a book like that and when you get a chance to read a book that is from the author's heart, well...you're in for the chance of a lifetime. If this book doesn't receive numerous awards I will be surprised and disappointed! It deserves to be a Christian historical romance classic! The characters and the storyline remind me of a beautiful Christ-infused book that is a compilation of some of my favorite books that I read growing up!
"Too many questions......"
When I first began listening to The Lost Heiress it was intriguing. The unfolding of the mystery of her lost identity did keep my attention, and the action was exciting. However, after a while, it became very annoying as I realized that the main characters pondered what seemed like too many questions, i.e. "Did she even care? What would he say? And why should she care? What would they do? How could he say that? Why was he acting toward her in that way?"
I always get irritated when characters ASSUME another character's thoughts and actions without actually talking with them to find out what is true; and this story was full of that sort of thing. Deidre with Brooke and with Pratt, Justin with Brooke, Brooke with Justin..... I just want to shake them and say, "Well, ask them!"
I really do like the fact that this author permeates her stories with Christian ideas - - -however even after her characters pray to God, they don't seem to trust God to hear them because they are still fearful, hysterical, or raging with jealousy. Nevertheless, I do like the fact that the characters turn to God when in need. There aren't enough books that show the value of doing so.
This book ends with the intimation that there might be a continuation of these characters in other stories, but as I read the summaries of books 2 and 3 in this series, I don't see any mention of Brooke or Justin? So it leaves me wondering if they are forgotten after this book?
I think the narrator, Liz Pearce, did a great job with all the voices! Her French accent was great! She makes the story worth listening to.
Overall, this is a good book, and I'm glad I took the time to listen to it.
"I could listen over and over....and I do"
Such a well written story and a wonderful narrator. I love it for its classic British romance lure with a little scandal and drama.
"very good book."
loved the book. the reader was excellent. I will read more of this authors books.
Very unique and exciting; I confess listening when I should have not been. Lois Pierce also did a superb job of narrating. Will be looking for more from her and Rosanna White.
"lost heiress not a total loss"
it was a good escape. maybe a touch too long, but not boring. probably read the next one.
"An amazing story!"
This is not the first story I have read by this author, but this is the best one yet! It was well written and a delightful story as well. It is a clean Christian story written in the regency period! I would recommend this to all ages. It is one of the best Regency stories that I have ever read! I highly recommend this one!
I finished this one in a day because I just had to know what would happen next. It engaged my mind and emotions and caused me to "think out loud" where the Baroness is concerned.
"Onderfully exciting book"
Mystery, intrigue, and love what a wonderful combination. Lost and found a new life a new family new problems and a long friendship turns to love.
"Adventure and intrigue with no smut!!!"
I really enjoyed listening to it without worry of explicit sex, cussing and preachy politically correct language!!
The scene in the stables
She did a great job with the accent of the ladies maid, Deirdra.
Lady Ramsey, she was just a fun character.
