"Bawdy romp one minute, a gruesome tragedy the next. The writing is beautiful, witty, grisly and moving" (Sunday Telegraph)
"If you liked The Other Boleyn Girl then this book is certainly one to adore" (Female First)
"Teulé effortlessly paints a vivid and detailed picture of life in 17th century France" (Edinburgh Evening News)
"This wonderful romp through the ballrooms and bedrooms of Louis XIV's Paris is a real treat" (Bella)
"Satisfyingly excessive and bawdy" (History Today)
What a waste of time and money this book is. Hilarious and Bawdy it is not despite reviews to the contrary. It is dull, boring and is good for sending one to sleep.
I cannot even give it more stars for the narration as that was also lack lustre.
The main characters were weak and I kept wishing something exciting would happen, sadly this did not happen.
I am sure there will be some-one who will rubbish this review but will leave it up to the listener to decide. I cannot recommend this.
