Usually the texts aren't so offensive. No self respecting human being would accept so much degradation. Nor would a good one dish so much degradation out to the one you loved. I don't know I just felt angry often in this series. Not normally my reaction to your writing.
I listen to 4 to 5 audio books per week. This by far has been the worst. I cannot believe how spineless the author makes the main female character, Katie. I mean really where is your pride, self respect and dignity. I understand the strong alpha male character that the authors were aiming for, but really they made Brandon out to be a sleazy piece of shit that was only out to degrade and humiliate the woman he was supposed to be in love with. The narrator was great and I'd love to listen to her read a different book, but all in all I struggled to finish listening to THIS book.
First, the narrators voice was annoying when she spoke as Katie. She sounded pathetic. This story is just not well written or thought out. The flashbacks in the first book was too much. I thought Katie was pathetic, stupid, and week. She was manipulative and a liar. I hated Brandon until the third book when the author told his true feelings. I know a lot of people think he was mean. He did do a lot of things to Katie that was wrong, but Katie was too immature to be in a relationship or raise a baby. He tried to coach her to be honest, but she kept on lying and saying she did not mean it when she did mean what she was doing. She only thought about herself. Katie said after she found out she had a son that she was afraid she would be able to connect to him. Why wasn't she just happy she had not lost her son? Then, she goes right back to obsessing over Brandon. A least Brandon with his controlling ways, he thought first of his son. He didn't even what Katie to be in his life until he was sure she was going to do the right thing which is understandable sense Katie was so stupid, selfish and immature. I'm not saying Brandon was a great guy, he had major personality flaws. However, he was less pathetic then Katie. All in all, these books had poor character development, poor story development, and structural problems. These books had potential, but it appeared that this author did not put a lot of thought into these books.
"lost in a little narrator's voice"
