Dane Gareis is a wealthy, reclusive young man with a traumatic past, but a spine of steel. When his father is killed in a mysterious plane crash, Dane carries on the family business and continues his passion for the very antiquity that got his father murdered - a golden sarcophagus belonging to an ancient cult known as the Ydrath.
Soon, the Ydrath threaten him as well, and Dane seeks to hire a bodyguard he can trust. Someone who can protect him, and someone who will respect his boundaries. While he gets the first two, the third requirement falls apart when he hires Sean Harding.
Sean Harding is an ex-detective with a sixth sense for danger. After his entire unit was murdered in a drug bust gone very wrong, he is a broken man who thinks only of revenge until he takes the job protecting the Gareis CEO.
Sean's attraction to the vulnerable Dane gives him new purpose, but his past is not escaped so easily, and his sixth sense tells him that there is more to the Ydrath than even Dane knows.

Love life, love being happy.
Someone looking for detailed gay sex rather than a detective story.
No I wouldn't listen again. I got as far as chapter 17 of 18 and the story still hadn't started.
The narrator did extremely well portraying the various characters.
I thought the characters were very good. I wouldn't cut any of them.
I felt the romance was very cheesy, predictable and went on for too long.
I haven't read the book but the audio one had me riveted from the first word.
The end - I was very upset that I have to wait for book two. Apart from that the first meeting between Dale and Sean.
His ability to make sure each Character had his/her own voice so that I was never lost as to who was speaking or thinking.
I have no idea I don't watch movies much so I don't know what taglines work.
A perefect book to start my listening adventure with.
"eerie , if a bit slow"
Complex, haunting, eerie
Sean, the inner dialogue and perhaps the catalyst
I adore Chris Patton's narration. He pauses in just the right place, delivers the dialogue crisp and full of emotion. I have begun looking at all the books I notice he narrates.
It was like a great old fashion horror movie. one where it wasn't just about mutilation, where the story rolled out with enough " mysterious incidents" to continually drive the story forward.
X. Aratare writes a fascinating scintillating horror story, that also has haunting realistic characters with depths of intrigue and flaws . I'm looking forward to hearing the next installment.
I really love the characters and the story line has promise. Just wish something would have been resolved in the book.
It is as if the story stops in the middle. There are no answers and apparently book 2 is not available at this time (audio or ebook). I would recommend you wait to listen to this one until book 2 is released.
I can't wait until the next book comes out... this was pretty good... It is m/m romance... and not actually romancing has taken place between the two main characters as of yet… just two really erotic daydreams about each other; however, the story is really interesting... And is something moving in that museum... Boy O Boy... I want to know....
Narration was great! Good sale or credit book..
Only Book 1 is on Audible... can't wait to hear the rest of the story!
Yes! this is a keeper for me, I loved the story but most of all the narrator was fantastic.
everything matched perfectly.
There all fantastic.
It kept my attention and Im a fan of this audio, I will listen to it over and over. I want the 2th one ASAP!
I need more , Im addicted to good audios with well match narrators and great story lines! and this is one of my personal "Crack"
"Book 1 great, not so much."
I like both Sean and Dane. They both are dealing with demons and trust issues but lean to trust each other.
Dane. Really brought him to life as if I could see and hear him.
I loved book one and was hooked. Unfortunately in book two they switch to another narrator who pronounces just about everything differently!! His monotone voice is not pleasant to listen to. I returned it and will have to find the print version to find out what happened.
