Widowed at thirty-three with two small kids, Beverly Simpson wants someone to blame. Angry, hurt, and full of regret for what she's lost, she rails against a once trusted God and hides her loneliness behind a sassy exterior.
Joe Clark, intrigued by Bev's irreverent approach to life, stubbornly pursues her. However, the pair have two very different outlooks on life. Joe is a dedicated preacher, while Bev insists she no longer believes in God. Despite being polar opposites, they can't hide their attraction to each other, but reconciling their beliefs may be harder than they imagined. Will faith and love be enough to mend a damaged heart?

"Mt least favorite Robyn Carr book ever"
No, I found the book to be tedious. Too many words to express simple thoughts, unlikable character (Bev), sappy character (joe). I found it difficult to listen to him basically begging her to love him throughout the story.
By the way I love Robyn Carr books...this is the first of all that I have read that I didn't like.
"Sweet sweet story"
Loved this story. The characters were so endearing. It was funny and very entertaining. The narration was great.
"Should've paid attention to reviews, not the best."
I appreciated the story line but the narration was not great. Lots of eye rolls.
Loved it from beginning to end! This was so refreshing and entertaining. I laughed all the way through the entire book. I was so real and truly showed the vulnerable side of even the most spiritual person. We are human and even with the most noble intentions our flesh is weak when it comes to the matter of the heart. I love the way the author showed the forgiveness of Joe and his willingness to hold fast to his commitment and trust in God to see what Beverly could not see. He had enough faith for the both of them and it paid off in the end. I want my book club to read this book because I can only imagine the discussion it will generate. I have come to love the author and this is my 3rd book i have read by her and I have not been disappointed yet! The narrator was awesome as well and helped bring this book more life if possible, great team!'' Off to find another book of hers to read :)
"Not Her best Work"
I love RObyn Carr and have been listening to lots of her novels. This one was not my favorite. The story was underdeveloped, lacked details and the characters were not as matured as her other novels. I did not realize until the end that it was one of her older novels. I would say her writing has matured over time and her more recent novels have ben fantastic.
I wasn't sure how this book was going to be but it was really good!!! I am a Christian and as a Christian you have to have a sense of humor and not gasp every time someone does or says something that you feel is wrong. I thought that a lot of this book was hilarious and laughed out loud at the things and times things were said. I would definitely suggest this book to others!
"Robyn Carr Rocks Again!"
Not the best--but held my attention--Robyn Carr seems to like to have her leading ladies get pregnant unexpectedly.. So that much was predictable
The narrator made it painful to listen to. She made Joe sound like a dufus...very disappointed. I like all Robyn Carrs other stories.
"Robyn Carr does it again!"
I want JOE
I would love to think that there really are men like Joe in this world.
Don't really have a favorite scene, but my least favorite is Joe, a man of God, continuing to cuss throughout the book
