Publisher's Summary

Romy Kilkenny loves her life in Australia - she has her dream job, an active lifestyle, and best friend Keith who understands her better than anyone. And she couldn't be further from her family. But when her family needs her back in Ireland, she is thrust into the lives of her mother and half-siblings again.

Romy has never fitted in with her family and now, with Keith too far away to give comfort, she feels even more like an outsider. She also worries that the accidental half-kiss with Keith at the airport may have lost her the greatest friend she ever had....

    "Didn't enjoy"

Predictable, cliche, boring, cheesy, I didn't enjoy the story at all. Tired plot, tired characters, just plain tired full stop.

    "Great book, bloody awful reading"

Very disappointed... I only carried on listening because it was a good story. Having listened to a few books on audible I have come to the conclusion that it's common practice for the narrator to speak the words without reading the context first. Caroline Lennon does not have a particularly good reading voice and is rather poor at accents.
However, it was a nice story, so I am inclined to listen to more of Sheila O'Flanagan's books as long as they aren't narrated by the same person.

    "Disappointing and Drab"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I would have enjoyed it more if there had been a strong storyline and a significant "hook" in the first few chapters.

What was most disappointing about Sheila O'Flanagan’s story?

I really had to force myself to finish this book. Sheila O'Flanagan totally failed to bring her characters to life. They are "characterless" and so self-obsessed I actually disliked them. All they seemed to do was bitch about one another.

Dialogue is stunted and interpersonal relationships lack emotion and are totally unconvincing.

The storyline is weak, predictable and totally lacking in intrigue. The only reason I finished the book was curiosity as to whether the author finally managed to garner my interest or not. Sadly, she did not.

Would you be willing to try another one of Caroline Lennon’s performances?

Caroline Lennon is an excellent narrator.
