Suzie Miller, a disillusioned agony aunt, can't believe she's been dumped from a great height yet again (this time by text!). So she decides the time is right to make every one of her exes feel the pain she felt when they carelessly cast her aside. Her methods are unusual but humiliation on a grand scale is no less than they deserve. And then she starts giving the same advice to her readers....

As a light beach read I would but not as an audible book
The story was ok in itself but the narrator spoiled it for me. The women character's sounded weak, girly and a bit like chipmunks even in their supposed strong moment's. And the men, well they just came across as simple. I think the characters would have sounded a lot different in my head there fore making the story more enjoyable and funny. Another bug bear was that the narrator paused as if a comma had been used when there would not have been. Maybe I'm just not cut out for having books read to me.
Disappointed as could have been an enjoyable read
Will try another narrator to see. The book is light reading, could be laugh out loud funny but I didn't I'm afraid.
This is a very funny light-hearted book. From the outset the ending is obvious but it is the journey that is so humorous. Agony aunt Suzie Miller has been left disillusioned with men after unfulfilled promises and failed relationships, the final straw being the last boyfriend who dumped her, rather unceremoniously by text, after a one-night stand. As a result her agony column takes a whole new stance. Forget forgiveness. Forget putting it all behind you. Suzie advises that it is more satisfying to take revenge. She then decides to follow her own advice, going back in time and take revenge on every boyfriend who ever did the dirty on her. The acts of revenge are neither violent nor vindictive, but they are creative, quirky and hilariously funny designed to heap maximum embarrassment or discomfort as deemed appropriate.
I found myself enjoying the book far more than I thought I would. The many acts of revenge were so resourceful and imaginative that it kept the storyline original and interesting. The ventures into Suzie’s awkward early days of dating brought back many hilarious teenage memories of the same ineptness and discomfort. If you are looking for a witty, funny but rather girlie read then this could be the book for you!
this book will have you laughing right from the word go! I loved Tracy's first book, no one ever has sex on a Tuesday and so I could pretty much guarantee I was going to like this book too. I was surprised by how different this book was from her other two novels. it was funny and light-hearted just like the others but this has a very real message about girl power and about feminism not just about women being man haters or feminists being bitter spinsters but about this main character standing up for herself and not being controlled by anyone except herself.
Alongside this fabulous feminist vein runs a gorgeous little love story interspersed with some proper-laugh out loud hilarity! Suzie is an amazing character. She might not know everything about the world but she has just worked out how to get everything she wants. Some of her methods for getting revenge on the men who have wronged her are seriously wickedly evil but at the same time, she knows to be there for her friends and she still wants a man who will love her and respect her in the right way. I could really identify with Suzie as I'm sure a lot of readers will be able to.
There are some very funny supporting characters in this novel. I love Suzie's best friend and Drew's dead pan humour is sure to make you fall in love with him just a little bit. The writing style and the style of humour in this novel reminds me in Milly Johnson's writing, I could almost hear her reading this out loud in her fab Yorkshire accent! I loved the fact that this wasn't set in London as well, its always refreshing to have a novel set elsewhere in the UK!
Overall this novel was a fairly quick read, I actually listened to it on audio book which was really superb. I'm sure if you're looking for a love story you'll find it here but if you're look for a book that is laugh a minute, you'll also find it here. This is full of girl power and interesting thoughts on life as well so definitely something for everyone here!
Love to read and love to Listen.
This book was fun, easy read/listen.
I would recommend if you want something light hearted.
"Witty, fun read with wisdom"
Dear Susie's column turned from the same old blah advice to women into one filled with wise advise women really should hear and do when a boyfriend or husband cheats. Susie seeks her own resourceful revenge on men who broke her heart, but all ends happily ever after when Susie finds the man of her dreams. Her best friend Jackie and her husband Dave add humor and hope for love in marriage. Definitely worth a credit.
"Really enjoyed this book. Predictable but fun!"
Really enjoyed this book. Predictable but fun, and the main character was a funny gal! Narrator did a fabulous job, and this was a great driving "read".
There was quite a bit of humor involved
I liked that the story was unpredictable and had a happy ending
I have not
Suzy of course because she fulfilled a dream that I've had for quite sometime
This book was so entertaining. I LOVED it.
Such a fun, story ,well read . I really enjoyed this and will definitely read the next book from this author
"Great "pass the time" story."
Loved it! If you are a Sophie Kinsella fan you'll enjoy this one! The story line is great for passing the time at work while doing mundane tasks. Cute, funny and decent enough plot. Recommend!
"Funny, great characters and heart warming."
Just the type of novel I love to read, funny, good and well built characters. I'm listening to it again and again.
"Its no surprise she's single!"
The main character is such a whiny, poor-me type that I just wanted to shake her till her teeth rattled. She comes across as needy and clinging and with absolutely no idea of the needs of anyone else but herself. She is a type of woman that makes every other woman cringe. I could not even finish the book.
This sort of subject needs to be handled with wit and charm or not at all. She should have left it in the bad ideas box as she has created a character who clearly does not have either wit or charm.
Tired, bored, hopeless although to be fair, if I was forced to read that rubbish I would also feel tired, bored and hopeless. Julia Barrie actually does have a nice voice to listen to and it was only her that kept me listening for as long as I did.
The drippy, pathetic, clingy main character.
Dont waste your credits.
"Really enjoyed it"
Book was great fun. Light hearted reading for sure. I thought the narrator was great. I am will be looking for other books by this author.
"Revenge isn't always best served cold!"
Suzie Miller has just been dumped by her boyfriend through a text message. Deciding she has had enough of men who unceremoniously break her heart, Suzie decides she is going to get revenge on every single guy, starting with her first true love. Even though it is said revenge is a dish best served cold, sometimes, it isn't!
"Great Book - Clever and Funny"
I really enjoyed the humor!
I liked the very clever revenge scenes.
The contest on the football pitch.
The narrator has a heavy British accent. The slang can be difficult if not impossible to understand for a typical American audience. I lived in England for awhile so I was able to understand most of it, but not all. It didn't necessarily detract from the story but it can make it difficult to follow at times.
