Government assassin Andrea McNeilly's job normally requires keeping her mouth shut and not asking questions. Not anymore. Despite her sass and unique skills as a Shifter, she's out of luck.
After a botched hit on a Vampire's human servant, Andy's on the run. Right in her way is an over-sized Werewolf Alpha with the attitude of a brute and allure of a Norse god. An assassin requires a heart of stone, but the passion provoked by Wick puts a chink in Andy's emotional armor.
Andy's desire to trust Wick is blocked by her painful past and Wick's allegiance to the very Vampire who now owns her future. Can Andy reconcile her yearnings for Wick and discover the truth behind the kill order? Or has destiny already selected her for a horrific fate?

"Such a Fun book!"
What a fun exciting book! I really enjoyed the twist to the paranormal world! These characters were tough, funny and sexy. Wick was my favorite, I love a strong silent type...aka sexy alpha! The writing was good and even though it had a cliffhanger, it wasn't a bad one at all!
The narration was fantastic! I seriously love Laurel Schroeder's work! I really hope she narrates book 2!
If you enjoy Werewolves, Vamps and more, you'll like this book!
This is first time I have ever read/heard of a shifter that shifts into 3 different animals. And to be able to shift from one to the other before the feet hit the ground.. And than to find her soul mate oh wait 2 soul mates a wolf and and a mountain lion.. Can't wait till the next book comes out.

"Shifters and Weres"
Being a paranormal romance book lover, I knew I would at least like this book. A good story line and narrator is essential. This book had both in spades. I loved that it had both shifter and were as the hero and heroine.
Andy, of course! I tend to love paranormal alphas more than the female roles but she was just so unique. Being as she has 3 animals inside her, she is beloved and cherished by many, even the unsavorables. She was courageous and was more than one dimensional.
Being as the narrator is female I would think Andy. I loved her voice and she also did a great job on the male voices also. I would listen to any audio book from her.
No. That is nothing against the book for I generally do not laugh and never cry over a book. I think this book was not a comedy nor a tragic drama, it was just the way I like them, fast paced and intriguing.
"Action and more action"
this is my first book by J C Mckenzie. Buy won't be my last. This book had action from the start till the end. Andie is a shifter but different from most. She has three forms. She is an assassin and her last mission did not end like others. The target was human. Her targets are supernaturals. However, this job got her involved with a master vampire and pack of werewolves and were cats. If that was not enough she finds out she was wanted for the past two years by the organization she worked for because they thought she had gone rogue. She did not know her handler was rogue. The human victim belongs to the master vampire. After she is captured by the werewolves that are tied to the master vampire, she has to go before him and answer his questions and then has to find out why his human was targeted or she will become the humans play thing. He is not very nice. He did not even die when she tore is his throat out in her mountain lion form. why? She out the alpha werewolf,
Wick, is her wolf's mate. She has a problem belonging to anyone because of her past. During her search for the one her issued the hit, she find her handler dead and calls in the organization she works for and finds out she is wanted. She then has to prove she did not go rogue. What else can happen? This audio book was good. I recommend this series. i can't wait to begin the next book. This reminds a little Chloe Neill and Patricia Briggs books. I received this audio book free in exchange for an honest review. I do not regret reading this book.
Good story. Will buy more from this author. The audible is read well buy today.
"The Title Says It All"
I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review via audiobook boom. The h is such an awesome shifter that she not only changes into one form, not two, not even three she changes into four and the fourth one is awesome. She rescues the females of her first pact from forced mating then becomes a government assassin. She trusts her handler so much that he has taken them off the grid for over two years before she encounters the pack that has her true mate as it's alpha. The plot thickens. The whole pack is controlled by a vampire. How do they get out from under his thumb? Read the book. It is worth the credit. The narrator helped make the unbelievable believable.
The story is well written.
The world building was done in a good way. As a reader you are sucked into the story and have no trouble following the plot. The history of the world , the shifters, the various characters and their role in the story is easily explained and believable.
Government assassin Andrea McNeilly!
She was a tough, capable heroine.
She had many talents, knew how to take care of herself. She didn't let anyone push her around.
She stood her ground with Werewolf Alpha Wick from the start, and he was confident enough in his power to empower her.
I loved Andy's strength in dealing with much more powerful creatures than her, in her intelligence and resilience..
I always enjoy the books Laurel narrates.
She just takes the characters and makes them real. Which makes it much easier to care about and root for them.
As a long time listener of audiobooks, I know the importance of a good narrator who does justice to a writers words, and Laurel has done that in each book she narrated.
Another great narration that enhances a good story.

This book was a thrill to listen to and the romance between Wick and Andy was a new twist on things then in the end to throw in a slight love triangle I think the next book in the series will be an exiting adventure.
I do feel at some points it went from an action story to a romance and then back but the transitions where smooth and precise.
I received this book free for an unbiased honest review and that is what I have given. I hope you enjoy many hours delved into the book like I have.
"Shift Happens = Murphy's Law"
In Shift Happens, government assassin Andrea "Andy" McNeilly blotched her job. What is usually a regular assassination of her mark become complicated when too many variables didn't go according to plan. Not only did she failed to kill her target, she also failed to escape.
Andy has to discovered who has given her order to killed a human servant of a very powerful vampire while being attracted to the werewolf alpha leader, Wick and to not end up as a servant of the vampire if she fails. As Andy goes deeper into her investigation, she wondered if she was a pawn between two rival master vampires.
Shift Happens covers the worst scenario of a assignment going wrong. For this assignment, Andy keep getting deeper and deeper into the ramification of her blotched job. As hard as she tried to get control of her situation, everything kept going wrong for her. She also discovered that she is a special shapeshifter but to what, Andy doesn't know who she really is, being an orphan.
Her wolf is pushing for her to fall for Wick and Andy is using her cougar to resist from giving her submission to Wick' wolf.
Readers/Listeners are going to love this story with a government agent/shapeshifter, weres, and vampires in the mix. This story has suspense, mystery, actions, and humor. The ending gives a glimpse that Andy is not out of the woods yet and leaves readers/listeners wanting to know what will happen between Andy and Wick.
The narrator, Laurel Schroeder does a pretty good job. I love the humor in Andy's voice from the narrator. It shows that Andy doesn't take her job too serious and tries to see humor in her assignments.
I was given this audiobook by the narrator via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influenced in any way in writing this review.
I really liked the concept of the story. It's great to imagine the idea of being able to shift between different kinds of animals. The characters were strong and tough. I thought the story was very well written.
I felt the narrator had a clear, distinct voice.
