Publisher's Summary

In an ancient time of fear and superstition, she stood apart because of her unusual blue eyes.

In a land of great stone cities and trackless wilderness, she sought her own unique path. But it was with the clan that accepted her - and in the heart of the magic man who saved her - that she found her ultimate destiny. Her name was Kwani. But legend would call her She Who Remembers....

    "She Who Remembers"

Interesting characters, well researched, good plot. The characters can be difficult to relate to, and, occasionally, the story leaves you wanting more detail. It prompted me to do my own research about the people, places and legends involved, in a good way, of course!

    "Great Book"

I read this book many years ago. I do remember that I like it. But hearing it on audio was just so much better. Can't wait to hear book two and three. Great Narrator!

    "So disappointing..."
    Any additional comments?

I thought I remembered reading this book in my tweens or early teens - the first book that I had to put down for a bit because it made me sob so hard that I couldn't see the letters anymore...lol...wonderful memory. It turns out that the book I read back then was actually "Voice of the Eagle", the second title in this series. Still, I was very pleased when I stumbled on this here, bought it immediately and was prepared to, even expecting to, love it. Which I did not. Because it's awful. The narrator brings out every bit of awfulness and multiplies it exponentially. Maybe it's just me - the narrator's accent really grated on my nerves with her Kuh-wanis and her speeerits and her pointy consonants. The main character struck me as a silly, stroppy, selfish, utterly uninteresting and unlikable cardboard creature. The elements of supposed romance in the story are un-engaging and unbelievable, yet the style of writing, the endlessly looping plot and the author's obsession with Kwani's physical assets would be perfectly at home in a bad romance novel.
I'm so sad. I would love to revisit the story that touched my young reader's heart so much 20 years ago, but I don't think I can bare any more of this tripe - certainly not on audio.

"maybe if she rewrites it after her writing has"

matured... maybe. i got this book on the reviews and description of the book... boy was that a mistake. i would have loved the book had it equaled the evaluations given. as it is, this author, in my opinion, needs to let her style mature and develop before i will try anything from her again.
i found her writing to lack sophistication, maturity and depth. possibly someone in high school would appreciate her writing, but it just wasn't for me. i stopped after 6 or so small chapters.
the narrator chosen for this book might be good, but bad writing is bad writing no matter who reads it.

    "Historical Romance"

In this instance, the female protagonist evolved into a strong character. I enjoyed the background history since it dealt with a very elusive area of America's past. The romance part didn't overwhelm the story and I found myself eager to return to it whenever I had some spare time. I would likely listen to the follow up stories, or at least the ones which deal with this set of characters.

    "SHE WHO REMEMBERS"

I am very disappointed in this audible book. I could not listen/read it due to poor editing or bad technical work. It was free but I am unable to listen or read. This is the first time I have had this problem and I buy a lot of books. Disappointed! SInce it is unreadable I can only give it 1 star, only because that is required!
