After war veteran Kennedy O'Brien returned home from Afghanistan and caught her husband in bed with the nanny, she lost her faith in all things male. So she started Fool Me Once Investigations to stick it to the man - because there's no better bounty hunter than a woman scorned.
Her latest job is a wild dog-chase to slap cuffs on a bail jumper turned Chihuahua thief, but thanks to her meddling family, Kennedy will have to put up with a partner. And it's about the last man she'd ever pick: Her cheating ex-husband's best friend, Griffin Crawford. As gorgeous as he is unwelcome, Griffin is a pesky (if scorching hot) reminder that Kennedy will need help to catch her man - and to open up her heart again.

This is an enjoyable light read. At its heart the story revolves around the capture of a felon who skipped bail. But that is in fact, just a distraction, and the real story is about Kennedy and her fathers' new bondsman! But Stephanie Plum this is not!
There is plenty of humour and lots of madcap action, but the characters are not fleshed out sufficiently to really interest you. But it's a good read, and I look forward to the second book, which is part of the Kindle Unlimited package, as is the third! Well worth the investment. Enjoy!
i like the strong woman and here work. i did not like the surealistisk stupid world and the sex
how stupid people was
when they got there asiments
The narrator was animated and the book was absolutely hilarious!
I can't think of another romantic comedy that had me laughing so much. I guess Wallbanger was probably the book that came the closest.
She added a lot of personality and spunk.
Quick and highly entertaining story! At first, I thought that Kennedy was too crass and I didn't think I'd like her as the heroine. However, I got over that quickly. She was hilarious!
Griffin is a great guy and a total hottie also. The rivalry between the two led to some very funny situations and great banter. They had great chemistry together and it was clear that Kennedy needed a guy that wasn't a total pushover. She'd met her match in Griffin.
The ending was great and I can't wait to see where book 2 takes these characters. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was wonderful as well! She really added a lot of energy to the story and was very animated. No monotone voice for this audiobook!
"What a book!!! Tara has some great humor...."
The narrator makes this book come to life. I caught myself laughing out loud. She nailed it...each character took on its own life....great story line. Tara has some serious writing talent. The comedy wasnt over done and the story line just flowed. Im hooked on her work...can't wait to read more of her stuff!
Kennedy of course was my favorite. She is a kick ass, no nonsense girl. Her dreams of Griffin and her desires are so funny. And the mouth on her...love her! And her descriptions are so funny...RAT BASTARD is my new word!
OMG! It made me laugh out loud....too funny!
I can't wait to listen to the other two in the series. I really loved this book!!!
"Funniest book ever.."
For anyone who called this book stupid or silly or whatever, they have no sense of humor whatsoever.
I have 800+ reviews and I've been reading for over 30 years and I can tell you this is the funniest book I've ever read. I have never laughed so much from the beginning to the end of a book.
I loved Kennedy and her army attitude and I loved Griffen for waiting all those years for Kennedy. That's a great love, waiting 18 years.
Loved Paige and Lorelei. Loved Kennedy's Dad.
Loved the whole damn book. Swear words and all.
Oh, and I loved the sex, too.
As to the narrator: Just PHENOMENAL! Ms. McFadden whispered, yelled, murmured, gasped, was as sarcastic as hell and she made this book worth listening to. Awesome job!!
This book is a wonderful escape, having me laugh from the first page. Not my usual kind of preferred reading material, but a welcome reprieve from the seriousness of life. This book entertains!
"Shame on You is short and funny"
I was entertained by this one. It's a short book but it's a nice little ride and wraps up nicely in the end. It's a little raunchier than your average chick lit so get ready for a crazy run as the leading lady chases down a chihuahua thief.
Would I recommend this for a credit? I'm not sure. It's awfully short for a whole credit. But it's a good time, so your call.
"Laugh out loud funny."
This book was funny in a way that movies like The Hangover or Bridesmaids is funny. So if you like that kind of humor get this short story. I was laughing my ass off while listening to it at work and my day flew by. There was one particular part with a bachelorette party comes into mind that had me in stitches. I love the father in this story I hope there is more of him in the next books. Okay I admit the story is a rip off of Stephanie Plum story, but don't be fooled the humor and language is defiantly cruder. The narrator does an excellent job at bring out the craziness of the characters. I will be listening to the rest of the books eventually.
"Liked it; despite myself"
This is one of the selections I acquiesced to during June's end of the month sale. I didn't expect to enjoy the listening experience; as the headline would suggest I was pleasantly surprised by this mystery/ romance. It is in fact a romance with a slightly more than casual nod to mystery.
Kennedy O'Brien returns from Afghanistan to find her husband in bed with a woman closer to her daughter's age than her own. She starts a detective agency with her two best friends Lorelei and Paige attempting to save women from the experiences they'd had with the men in their lives. She also works occasionally as a bounty hunter going after fugitives who've skipped out on their bond provided by her father's bail bonds business. She's runs into her husband's best friend Griffin Crawford at a fugitive's front door he's just taken a job as a bounty hunter with the same company.
Sparks fly as the attraction between them is strong as is the antipathy; because what the hell it's a romance and couples always begin that way in a romance novel. The interplay between them is sharp and humorous and the language used Kennedy and her family is highly reminiscent of an army barracks.
While it's true that most of the book's characters have at most two dimensions this is a nice little story that I'm glad I was talked into purchasing. Warning; there will not be very many surprises in this book; it's a pretty typical romance novel, but an enjoyable one.
"This is no Stephanie Plumb!"
If you like plenty of Raunchy sex, stupid repetitive jokes and constant bad language in normal conversation this is for you. It is NOT for me. The reader is annoying so that did not help. Skip this one. I couldn't finish it.
"Nice, light read."
Put this one down in the middle and almost didn't pick it up again. So glad I did! Must not have been in the mood the first go-round, because I really enjoyed it on the second try. Fun characters that made me laugh.
"Great start to a series - wish it was longer"
Cute story with interesting characters. Lots of close friends and family interaction. Loved the way Kennedy gets along with her brothers, Dad and uncle. And Griffin – what can I say? We all want a Griffin for ourselves! Several scenes had me laughing out loud. Good start to a series. My only complaint is that the book is quite short, I wish it was longer.
Excellently performed by Amy McFadden.
