"Ten flavors of horror brilliantly narrated"
The ten stories in this book are genuinely scary. They'll keep you up at night! And since ten authors collaborated in this book, you get as many distinct interpretations of horror. Some stories take a "real life" approach with psychotic killers, while others go for supernatural horror involving demons, magic, and time travel.
I would compare this to the horror story compilations by Stephen King and Harlan Ellison.
I liked them all. It speaks to the narrator's talents that there were many characters and he personified each of them, giving them a distinct feel. The book's "bad guys" are especially enjoyable.
Nobody, because most of them are either dangerous human beings or malevolent entities. Still, it's fun to watch them in action.
This is a unique book and it's narrated beautifully. Definitely check it out.
"Horror you can sink your teeth into..."
These stories are really scary, and many types of horror are represented: slashers, serial killers, and supernatural paintings just to name a few. Each story brings a new crop of unexpected (and often gruesome) twists. The narrator's performance really puts you in the action. His storytelling is nuanced, subtle where it needs to be to build tension, and outright dramatic during the heated spots in the book.
This book is a collection of stories by 10 authors from all over the world. Their creativity and ingenuity really shine in each terrifying tale.
Hard to say, all the stories are great. The book starts off on a strong foot with the lead story, "Water Ice And Vice," which is a supernatural horror tale. From there the book proceeds to many different types of scares, from the true-to-life serial killer to demons who turn a victim's home into a diabolical death trap. "The Final Spell" is a chilling tale told - interestingly enough - in second person, and done very well. And the novella that closes the book, "Crying," is a great take on the haunted painting motif.
Terror ten ways - a horror buffet. Bon appetit.
This is a book you can sink your teeth into, but just be careful it doesn't sink its teeth into you first.
"110 Octane Nightmare Fuel"
Dear reader: press on if you're a fan of a good scare and sleepless nights.
"Ten terrifying tales by talented authors"
Each story is a different take on horror by a different author. You never know what the next story will bring.
The climax in the short story, "Water, Ice, And Vice" was fantastic. An intense, suspenseful twist.
Mr. Gray's performance was fantastic all around. He played a broad range of roles: bullies, serial killers, evil possessed children, and more.
Beware what lurks in the shadows, for it has teeth, and will bite...
A fantastic book all around.
"Horror with humor .."
The author writes that everything that scares you has shadows and teeth . I've never thought about that, but yes it's usually true. I enjoyed this collection immensely , I was skeptical about 10 short stories read by one narrator. Wyatt S. Gray was not a narrator I am familiar with, but a fan now.
Each story is completely unique and great. Every one has it's own theme. And all terrific . From the description of the authors , each one has published mostly for magazines or other short articles. That I was also a little pessimist about. But put these authors together and it adds up to a perfect compilation.
I am very glad I selected this book. I enjoyed all of the stories except one. And only because it was a genre I'm not fond of. In a word read this collection if you enjoy real people in horrific circumstances , but are able to find a way to use your wit to turn the situation around .
Narrator really gets into it and keeps you engaged. All the stories are great! Each one completely different than the other.
"Horror Stories That Will Make Your Hair Stand!"
Chilling, Suspenseful and Thrilling
The whole story of "Water, Ice and Vice" was very captivating and was one of my favorites out of all the stories. It gave me a good scare!
Shadows and Teeth tells the tales of ten stories that keep you on the edge of your seat while listening to it. After listening to one tale you want to keep going and listen to more because of the intriguing stories that are told.
"Not to scary"
Some stories are interesting, and some are not scary and make no sense what's so ever. This is not above an average horror movie. The people that think this is scary probably think someone who dresses up as a ghost with a sheet over their face is scary. Cliched, twists have no good pay offs. Just not scary.
"not horror at all. boring"
hoping for a real horror anthology, but ended up just being slow and boring. this was a big dissapointment
