This book had a lot of promise but it was just TOO MUCH, too much crying, too much sobbing, too much, too much. I usually enjoy Kingsbury and the premise for the story is good but her writing was just dragging on the points and everyone was SOOOOOO sad and depressed about everything and it really wasn't one of her better books.
I will attempt to make this short and sweet by simply getting straight to the point. Don't waste your credit. The idea behind the story is good, but it could of been written much better. Instead of taking 10+ hours, this story could of been told in half that time; it just went on and on. I got half way through it, listened to the last chapter and that was enough for me. Without spoiling the story too much, I found the characters to be less than realistic in their approach to problems. I don't want to minimize the seriousness of the theme but, please!!!!! Also, Brad, the main character, inability to formulate his thoughts and his constant hesitation made me want to puke. The narrator was good, but the story was not. This is not Mrs. Kingsbury's best, if you are listening to her books for the first time, try the Sunrise series or the Redemption series or any Terry Blockstock book. I think three stars is more than fair for this book.
I thought this book was very inspirational, as is all of Karen's books I've read so far. This book raises the awareness of the emotional and spiritual stress caused by the choices we make and cannot undo. A very good read in my opinion.
This book was one of my favorites Kingsbury books. I was put into the situation of each character and could appreciate how forgiveness and redemption was given and received when the issues at hand were faced. I wish all who have found themselves in this situations could read and understand the redemption that is available.
Thanks Karen for being honest about the effects of abortion on the life of those who choose it.
"Excellent Moving Story"
Loved this Book, Very Real life, Story line Great, Audio was Well Read, Good Listen
"What an amazing God we serve!"
What a lovely-woven story of another spiritual truth. It is such a burden to carry as a woman and I don't think people on the whole understand that abortion is the shedding of innocent blood. But praise Jesus, that His Blood was also innocent, and He paid IN FULL for our sin, whatever it is. The narrator was excellent too.
"Excellent but wordy"
Maybe. The message was excellent, wonderful reminder of the loving, forgiving nature of God. Some parts could have been left out though, they didn't lend anything to the story.
Brad's dad was my favorite character because he was portrayed as the steady man of God that remained the same through the years.
My favorite scene was on the beach when Emma and Brad mourned for the loss of their child and were able to forgive themselves and each other.
At various points it did make me cry. I do not recall laughing.
I was kinda bugged that they kept calling the baby a girl. How did they know it was a girl? She never had a sonogram or amino so how do they know it was a girl. I must have missed something.
"Beautiful story of Redemption"
This is an excellent book, dealing with forgiveness both from others and from Cod. Excellent narration. We'll wort the read.
"Beautiful storyline!! So touching!!"
Such a touching and heartfelt story. I think anyone who was in these circumstance would benefit from this story. I absolutely loved it!
The closing of the chapter between Brad and Emma at the beach and the presence of God they both felt. Loved that part so much!
Expressions of the characters. I love hearing the books read to me, it brings a whole new experience to a book!
I wouldn't, I believe that the name was perfect for this book!
Just that I would highly recommend this book!! Another awesome book by Karen Kingsbury, but then again, I haven't read a bad one!
A very standard Karen Kingsbury formatted book. Interesting characters that remind you of the person you've love to be, with the life you dream of living. Very spiritually uplifting, almost as if you're absorbing scripture and it's practical application in every page. This book tackles a topic that requires a strong stomach, but its a wonderful depiction of the grace of God, and I'm sure it has provided an immeasurable amount of healing in the lives of many.
