This is Jane.
A little subdued, a little stubborn, a little tired of going out on blind dates with men who drive vans with sofas in the back, Jane Alcott is living the Single Girl existence in the big city. She is also leading a double life. By day she's a reporter covering the raucous Seattle Chinooks hockey team - especially their notorious goalie, Luc Martineau. By night she's a writer, secretly creating the scandalous adventures of "Honey Pie"...the magazine series that has all the men talking.
See Jane spar.
Luc has made his feelings about parasite reporters - and Jane - perfectly clear. But if he thinks he's going to make her life a misery, he'd better think again.
See Jane attract.
For as long as he can remember, Luc has been single-minded about his career. The last thing he needs is a smart-mouthed, pain-in-the-backside reporter digging into his past and getting in his way. But once the little reporter sheds her black and gray clothes in favor of a sexy red dress, Luc sees that there is more to Jane than originally meets the eye.
Maybe it's time to take a risk. Maybe it's time to live out fantasies. Maybe it's time to...

"Great Narrator...Great Story...An absolute treat!"
Lucky Luc is always a treat! But when we get Luc and Jane and the hysterical banter that the narrator did an AMAZING job at bringing to life...Well...The story is just made THAT MUCH BETTER!
I love the "fall" of Luc, the way Jane goes from being someone who is so not his usual to the woman he can't be without!
The second time Jane and Luc play darts after he hurts her. It's quite heartbreaking and emotional.
Who knew "Luck" and Love could come in one package!
This is probably one of my favorite Romances not just from Rachel Gibson, but out of all the romances I have read. The audio version just made it all the more enjoyable for me and I HIGHLY recommend SEE JANE SCORE!!

Note Use the new 1.25x speed to get the full impact of this book.
This is a simple story, no FSOG stuff, just good big smile romance.
This author has humor, but YOU must be in the mood for it as she leads with it.
Author's Rescue Me, and Simply Irresistible are another good smile on your face books.
All of her Hockey team series are fun. (if you like this series, see Susan E. Phillips "It Had To Be You")
sexy and provocative like the earlier Sandra Browns romances, hot, but not over the top sex. This leads with humor then sexy.
She has learned to deepen your male voice to YUM! She can interpret this author's work so well. (note: she does the Karin Slaughter books, mystery/terror books)
When our 2 ladies speak in their 2nd language, "pig latin"
I own all of this author's Hockey series and I loved this book in the Writers series enough to get the rest. Thanks Audible for this sale of Editor Picks book/series, it worked!
I love this series. I read the book years ago and I always wished it would be available from audible. I ordered it the second I saw it and started listening. It ranks right up there with my favorite audiobooks. I am going to relisten to the series in order now, only problem is that Book #2 THE TROUBLE WITH VALENTINE'S DAY is not available on audible. Now I am hoping that will be available soon.
"See Jane Score."
Yes. I think it's a good choice for a lighter read in between books that are much heavier on angst.
I loved Kathleen Early's narration and have so far enjoyed all of the books (I've read) that she's narrated.
I took small issue with the supposed Canadian pronunciation of the word "about" as "aboot." The character was from Western Canada and not from one of the far eastern Maritime provinces where this Canadian stereotype originated. I have never personally encountered anyone who says "aboot" and think it sounds ridiculous.
"Finally in audio!"
This is an old one. I'm so glad it's finally in audio. Rachel Gibson is an automatic buy for me. I love her mix of humor and romance. If your looking for a fun read with a good amount of humor you can't go wrong with this one. I highly recommend it!
"Fun and Easy"
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The story was cute. Not much angst. The characters fun and the narrator did a great job. Worth a credit!
The reason why I enjoyed this book was for the heroine. She was a nice departure from the typical romance. She wasn't a super model, but wasn't always body shaming herself (well not enough to make you feel sorry for her anyway). She was fiesty but not in an annoying way. She had guts but was also able to be sensitive. Overall, the book doesn't seem to take itself to serious and is funny and heartwarming. Worth the credit.
"a cute story, not gratuitously sexual"
I was pleasantly surprised by this little book! Considering the genre, I didn't expect much in the way of substance, but I actually ended up enjoying the story. There was plenty of melodrama and a few instances of eye rolling character behavior, but it is fiction after all. It was actually refreshing to find a book in this genre the didn't get over involved in the sexual encounters and left a little to the imgination.
The only things that bothered me, as others have pointed out: there are no "frames" in hockey, and Canadians don't say "aboot" - it's something more like "aboaht" but not quite so heavily accented.
I like more meat to my stories. I kept waiting for something to happen. Unfortunately nothing does. It's a good story I guess ...if you like just hearing how two ppl live their lives, meet, then live hea. It's not that the book was bad. It was just a book about boy meets girl and how they fall in love almost don't make it over something stupid and then make up. The narrator was excellent though. I forgot that I was listening to someone reading to me and was easily sucked into the story. I will definitely listen to Kathleen Early again. Just my honest opinion.
"A predictable format but entertaining"
Ms Gibson has a successful format she uses, so she keeps repeating it.
The book does feel as if it writes itself and Ms. gibson makes some tweaks and changes. Please please, I,d be really grateful if another word could be found instead of Gaze. I,ve never heard so many gazes in one paragraph.
still an enjoyable if predictable read.
