Hanna Boudreaux has lived in the small town of Willow all her life. She's sweet, cute, and quiet.
Hanna has a moment of epiphany when she realizes her crush for forever, Raiden Ulysses Miller, is never going to be hers. She sees her life as narrow and decides to do something about it.
Raiden Miller is the town's local hero. A former marine with the medal to prove his hero status, he comes home shrouded in mystery. It takes a while, but eventually Hanna catches his eye.
After all these years of Raid and Hanna living in the same town, the question is: Why? Is Raid interested in Hanna because she's sweet and cute? Or does Raid have something else going on?

The goofy heroin that moons over high school hottie. Whilst a cliché begging, this is an utterly unique story. Hannah, now 26, her high school crush, Raid, has been in the army and seen the most harrowing things in life a person can see and he is suffering with these memories. Whilst Hannah's life is very narrow as she is hidden in her books and looking after her grandmother she manages to get entangled, unconsciously in the drug business; but now Raid has her back.... but that doesn't mean that their troubles are over. This is one of Ashley's best story lines with countless twist and turns whilst also being hilariously funny as this unconventional couple are paired together!
"best book ever"
The best book I've listened to by far. Great story really touched home for me. The first booked I actually cried listening to.
Raid is amazing and Hannaford is sweet just a little to whinny for me. But, well worth the credit.
This has all the heat, chemistry & heart that you expect from a KA novel. But the bonus was Spot. Hilariously funny, ornery, loyal and fierce. Picture grumpy cat! Honestly grandma (lightning story) and Spot stole the show and pushed this from a great read to a novel that will stay with you and be enjoyed numerous times. Enjoy....
"Great story. Luv Hanna and Raid <3"
This was a great book. Raid and Hanna are very good together and I really enjoyed reading this book. I'm hoping KA comes out with more in this series.
Hanna is a very sweet, helpful person that everyone likes. She made a good business out of selling her afghans and preserves nationwide. She's very shy and wasn't very adventurous but certain things make her realize her life is wasting away and she makes changes. She has been crushing on Raid for years but he never noticed her. When he starts paying attention to her and asks her out she's surprised but gratified so she says yes.
Raid is a good but damaged man. He was in the marines and barely survived something that killed most of the rest of his squad. He came back home pretending everything is fine but not happy and suffering from nightmares. He has an interesting but not very legitimate job that brings Hanna to his attention. This causes some problems with them in the beginning but Raid knew Hanna was for him as soon as he saw her and he was determined to get her.
I really loved seeing them getting together. She's so shy at first and he brings out the wild in her. To be honest there's not much true BDSM...I'd definitely call it BDSM lite and it's nothing to get stressed about if you don't like that stuff (view spoiler) Regardless, I liked the sex scenes and thought they were hot.
Another thing I really liked was that Raid liked that Hanna was a little dorky and cute. He fell for her lock, stock and barrel just as she was. Not that he wasn't a typical alpha male and being bossy but I also liked that she learned how to handle him (to a certain extent) as their relationship grew. There are some issues when Hanna finds out what Raid does for a living and has to come to terms with it. There are also a few other issues to deal with, including some danger that strikes unexpectedly. Raid and Hanna make it through and Raid takes measures to ensure wont happen again. There were a few secondary characters I really likes (Rachelle, K.C. & Hanna's Great Grandma Mildred). There are also a few cameos of the couples from the previous 2 books which was cool. The ending was great although there's a bit of sadness with the happiness.
This was a great book. I ended reading it was a warm happy feeling. And really hoping KA continues this series. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up! :D
"Review of the narration"
Dara Rosenberg's voice was exactly right for Hanna in my opinion. Sweet, quirky, adorable and absolutely communicated everything that was Hanna to me. I had read the book before and Ms Rosenberg impersonated Hanna very well in the dialogue, I also liked her narration of the story. I didn't like her narration of Raid as much, but it didn't mind it. What really didn't work for me was her prounciation of Hannas family name, Boudreaux. It sounded like "boudoir" in my ears.
If it wasn't for that small thing I would have given the narration 5 stars, but it bugged me.
Excellent voice for Hanna! Overall well done!
I love this story about an anti-hero, and a dorky lovable heroine.
Thanks. This is a well written story that keeps you interested in the characters and what's going on. It also introduced the next books leading character so you're not caught off guard.
"A DRAMA-FEST, FEEL GOOD, FUNNY & STEAMY ROMANCE"
Hanna's crush on handsome Raiden spanned years, ever since she was 6, but over the years he never noticed her and eventually joined the Marines and after that he went 'off the grid' until one day he returned to small town Willow. But when Hanna stalked him and saw the blonde bombshell he was with that was finally the last straw something had to change and she decided it had to be her appearance, her attitude and her stupid crush. However, slowly Raiden was everywhere Hanna was then the impossible happened.... he asked her out but it turned out not everything was perfect and he was about to break her heart and shatter her dreams.
The very Alpha Raiden, knew he'd messed up, he had secrets, but he wouldn't let the infuriating and cute Hanna go that easily and barged back into her life which proved to be frustrating, annoying, sexy, funny, romantic and he realised Hanna was the girl of her dreams. Unfortunately nothing was going to be the same again in Hanna's life when Raiden finally opened up to her and then the past paid her an unwelcome and violent visit.
Dual POV's, the narrator did a good male voice but her female voice was too young sounding, there was a funny and interesting Grandmother who was in her 90's, a spoilt cat that had character and a plot that had sex, romance, drama, angst and intrigue.
Worth a credit? It was very enjoyable and entertaining but the narrator's female voice wasn't good to listen to however, despite this, I thought it was yet another creditworthy listen by the talented Kristen Ashley who has hit on the perfect formula for damaged hot Alpha males whose dirty talk makes you go weak at the knees.
"Still undecided on this series"
Still holding out hope that this series will show more promise. Just not seeing the mystery, twists and turns I usually love in Kristen Ashley books.
Loved this story. A little different from KA usual but totally refreshing and innocent. Loved the Hanna character and how much she loved her grandmother. Really wish KA would put pictures up of all her hot guys so we could see what she's thinking they look like. Great book!
"Another good one from this author"
Dara Rosenberg did a nice job performing this. Really enjoyed her voice and I thought she caught the characters nicely.
Enjoyed the story. Characters were very well done, as expected with Kristen Ashley. The plot moved right along and there were a few surprises I didn't see coming.
Only minor nitpick is I thought the story could have been longer. Felt the ending rushed a bit and wouldn't have minded seeing more of the final actions.
Money well spent.
