Summary

Katherine: I thought I could enjoy a night out like a normal person. I thought I could handle the flashing lights, the pulsing music, the crowded dance floor. I couldn't have been more wrong. After having an anxiety attack and passing out during my sister's engagement party at Panic, I wake up in the arms of the hottest guy I've ever seen. Nick Moreno's no gentleman. But he might just be the man I need to help me take control of my life.

Nick: When I hear there's some random girl passed out in the back room of my family's South Beach nightclub, I'm pissed. My dad's already behind bars and we can't afford any more bad press. But after giving her a lift - literally - back to her apartment, I stop seeing Katherine Wilson as some random girl. She's gorgeous, vulnerable, and braver than she knows. And when we kiss, all I want to do is pull her close and promise that she'll always be safe in my arms.

Pull me close

Great story good narration enjoyed the play between the two main characters but also the back stories explain all questions with no cliffhangers but also sets it up for the next book in the series

Bland and Dislikable Heroine

I disliked the heroine a lot; I found her to be without any real depth and inconsistent. I understand that ptsd and severe anxiety make people act in different ways and that they can progress forwards and backwards but her depiction just made no sense at all. The story lacked a more developed backstory and the characters fell for each other without any real chemistry or reason. Overall, quite underdeveloped….

Worth listening

I enjoyed this book. couldn't put it down. The story was well written, although the female performance was not so great, but overall, I liked it.

Not worth a credit.

This started off well but really wasn’t that great.

MFC has an anxiety disorder in the extreme, and I empathised with her. The descriptions of this were believable and detailed. Her recovery imho was rushed - it talks about how she has been fighting to recover for months, but it hadn’t given the timeline suggests it was less than 2 months. It just seems all a bit too good to be true. The MMC is supportive and I liked him. However I didn’t like his supposed need to control in bed, and the FMC submission given her anxiety.

There was also drink driving in this, a cat who seemed to be forgotten for long periods of time without being fed and watered. I get this is just fiction, but such detail for me are integral to a good story. There were also some continuity errors and some timeline issues.

The narrators did a decent job with what they had.

Given this was a free listen on plus then I’ve heard worse. However it’s not worth a credit.

I love a good cheesy romance but this one didn’t sit well with me

I love a good steamy romance novel but I have to say I found this one hard to listen to because the characters didn’t sit quite right and made me feel uncomfortable. I am all down with a good of male dominance in a novel but this just felt a bit too abusive somehow…particularly to initiate sex and again towards the end.

Easy listening

Nice easy book to listen to listened to in one day. Liked the fact the it sent the message regarding anxiety and PTSD. It was quite heartbreaking. Joe and Aletha both did a great job at narrorating the book.

It was slow paced at first

I really enjoyed the overall message this story was sending and showing light to anxiety and PTSD which is a debilitating condition. I did however find the 1st half of the story was a little slow and at times felt I was losing interest. However, I am glad I stuck it out as the last few chapters were both heartbreaking and fast paced.
