A one-time bad girl comes home to small town Oregon in the first in a sexy, heartfelt new series from USA TODAY best-selling author Maisey Yates
Sadie Miller isn't expecting any welcome home parades on her return to Copper Ridge. Least of all from part-time rancher, full-time lawman Eli Garrett. The straitlaced, impossibly hot deputy sheriff glares at her as if she's the same teenage hoodlum who fled town 10 years ago. But running from her demons has brought Sadie full circle, ready to make a commitment at last. Not to a man but to a bed-and-breakfast. On Garrett land. Okay, so her plan has a tiny flaw.
Eli works too hard to let a blonde ball of trouble mess up his town. But keeping an eye on Sadie makes it tough to keep his hands off her. And if she's so wrong for him, why does being with her feel so right?

As this is the first part of 6 books the story moves along at a pace. The story has a strong cast of characters and a love interest that builds during the book.

enjoyed the book and listening to the narrator
"Ending is great"
Stick with this one... Only downside is the ridiculous amount of anger (for no apparent reason) in the first half of the book. Otherwise the story is cute in the end.
The story was pretty good, if a little predictable, but the narrator absolutely killed it!
If I could change anything, I would change the narration. When more than 1 man was around, I couldn't tell who was who. Their voices seemed to meld into one which made the story hard to follow at the moment.
Yes, I'm interested to see what happens with Connor and Kate.
Since I'm wanting to see what happens to Connor and Kate, I don't think I have a choice here, although I would rather someone else narrate them.
The most irresistible part of the romance in this book was how hard they tried to fight against it but how unable they were to successfully do so. The passion between them was something neither of them was able to control and there's something sexy about losing control.
I love ornery and stubborn Eli who fights with himself after encountering his potential girlfriend or wife, (even tho he has not got that far in his mind). I think it is so cute and funny because I know he will fall in the end. Eli has to deal with so much in his life, having to have order in his life and feels he has to take care of everybody and no time for love. I love traveling the road with him as he evolves into the man he eventually does.
Loved the end where Sadie is confronted by the Chamber of Commerce woman, who gives her food for thought and the following scenes where Eli and Sadie come to the same realization, their true feelings for each other.
I think I have listened to her before and I knew from the first chapter that I would really enjoy the audio book because I love her voice. Time just flew during the almost 10 hour book, read it in one sitting. Lillian did a fantastic job, loved her way with both male and female voices. I really felt like I had just watched a movie. The author wrote a great book but the narrator just made it even better.
It was so sad when the barn burned down, felt so sorry for Connor but hated that Eli had a change of heart.
I enjoyed the story line but I wish I had read the book instead. The narrator sounded to mature. I felt like I was listening to someone my mothers age talking about sex, not enjoyable to me.
Her voice was too mature to be reading this type of book.
"Really enjoyed this series!!"
For ages I’ve been wanting to listen to more audiobooks. Somehow I still didn’t do it. But since I signed up for a view audiobook tours, I decided I definitely needed to start listening to more audiobooks ASAP. So when I saw the first book in the Copper Ridge series available on Audible.com, I decided to start with that one. I read the second and third book in the Copper Ridge series a while back and loved it, so this sounded like a great ‘first’ audiobook for me.
‘Part Time Cowboy’ is the story of Sadie Miller and Eli Garrett. Sadie moves back to Copper Ridge after being gone for the last ten years. After moving from town to town for years, Sadie now signed a five year lease for running a Bed & Breakfast on the Garrett land. From the moment Sadie and Eli meet each other again they are surprised by the attraction they feel for one another. Especially since they really don’t seem to like each other.
‘Part Time Cowboy’ definitely was a fun story to listen to. I love stories about small town life, and Copper Ridge definitely is a fun small town. The main characters Sadie and Eli are fun. Sadie has been running for her past for years, and it was fun to hear how she slowly got used to being back in her childhood town. Eli was a little more difficult to like. I did like him almost immediately, but he was definitely pretending to be much harder and tougher than he really was.
After a lot of arguing between Sadie and Eli at the beginning of this book, which got a little too much if you ask me, the romance started getting better and better the further we got in the book. The chemistry between Sadie and Eli was really fun. I could definitely feel that chemistry and I loved listening to their story.
In the end I would have liked this book just as much with a little less sex scenes. There were just to many of those at the end, and I began losing interest in them.
I really enjoyed listening to ‘Part Time Cowboy’. Lillian Thayer had a nice and calm voice and I particularly liked how different she could make Sadie and Eli’s voice sound. It never got boring listening to her voice. Yes, ‘Part Time Cowboy’ really made for an easy to follow, fun audiobook. Doing housework was never so fun!
Will definitely listen to it again. The narrator made the men sound older than what they were but overall it was a great book.
"Not a great story and I wish I had saved the credit"
This book may have been better if I'd just read it myself instead of listening to it. I don't feel like the narrator's voice matched the age or playfulness of the characters. She didn't do a good job of imitating the banter between the characters so it was really more boring and monotone than anything.
"Strictly a romance and sex story"
Sometimes you just get tired of sex scene after sex scene and that is all this book is about. One of the most boring and predictable books I have listened to in a long time.
Heartwarming and easy to listen to. The book flowed with ease. Nothing too steamy but overall a great listen!
