There is nothing Aleron Pitre can't steal, nobody he can't con, and no situation he can't slip out of until he's sent to the prison planet Tantoret, where every sentence is death. If the prisoners don't kill each other, they'll die slowly and painfully from mining the poisonous drug chojal. Yet Aleron still hopes that he can escape.
Only 30 Athaki guards keep the chaos of Tantoret in check, a race of aliens stronger and faster than their human charges. Most intimidating of all is the head guard, Jasak, who has his own reasons for being sent to Tantoret.
Amidst the darkness and desperation, Aleron and Jasak share an unexpected attraction. An attraction neither can resist when Jasak claims Aleron as his mate to protect him. Then they discover that both guards and inmates are planning a coup, while a traitor from an enemy nation threatens the whole planet. Suddenly, escape from Tantoret isn't just Aleron's dream - it's a matter of survival for them both.

Completely amazing! After listening, it’s easy to see why this book won awards. And, Jack LeFleure does a fantastic job narrating – I wish he’d read every book from now till the end of time! I loved it so much I visited the author’s website looking for other Jasak/Aleron stories – but, sadly, there aren’t any others as this is the first book (in what I hope will become a lengthy series). Forget the phobe reviews here and download – you won’t be sorry!
I bought this book in pdf form and read it in hours. I could not get it out of my head, I loved it so much that by the next day I came to an important realization. I couldn't be away from it, so I bought it here in audio format and took it to work with me. Whatever I had missed in my initial read, came across amazingly. The narrator is perfect. Ten+ delicious hours of listening and I started listening all over again. The world that the authors (Jamie Craig are two authors) build is so vivid you can hear and feel everything described. The despair, the fear, the hate, the love, the determination that the characters show is portrayed brilliantly. I recommend this as one of my top 5 best and favorite gay romance novels!
"you know where your going but love the ride there!"
i cannot limit this work to simple words. the story grabs your attention and will not release it till the end and then you find your self listening yet again. even though i didn't have the timeto do it i listened to the whole story in ONE DAY!!! i could not tear myself away from it!!!
both lead characters. they are good seperatly but together they make every scene memorable and u want to listen again and again!
every scene is wonderful and i don't want to ruin it for anyone but if you get this the scene close to the end brought tears to my eyes and the ending is wonderful even though you don't want it to ever end!!
i usually go for the parnormal books and i was never much for sify but this book has me hooked!!!
I just finished listening to the last chapter a few minutes ago while relaxing in a bubble bath. This book was pure delicious romance. For 10 amazing hours, I was invited to enter the incredible love story of Aleron and Jasak. I was instantly hooked from the first interaction between the two and I loved listening as Aleron slowly worked his way into Jasak's hard heart. The sex scenes were incredible and had me very hot and bothered while listening, so be careful where you listen to this story. This story was intimately set and buried in the living tunnels of dirt of Tantoret where Jasak and Aleron have nothing to do but fall in love with one another. This all changes when an unknown danger approaches and threatens to destroy life as Aleron and Jasak know it. This author is extremely talented, I was so pleased by how she delineated the differences between the intergalactic species and planets. I have a feeling I won't forget this touching story anytime soon and am already planning on re-listening to it very soon. Thank you Jamie Craig for writing such a wonderful love story, and PLEASE consider a sequel! The narrator also did an excellent job. Sometimes I could hear him breathing and a couple of wheezes here and there, but I just took it as being part of the drama and acting, so no hard feelings!
"Well written, action, suspense & emerging love"
The story builds quickly and believably captivating the reader to the point where it's impossible to stop listening.
The feelings emerging inside the two main characters are actually palpable. The emotional content is riveting. It's simply impossible to listen to this book casually!
It's not possible to favor one male lead over the other. Rather, the listener loves them both, each for their unique characteristics.
Without a doubt, and re-listen as soon as the first listen was over.
A book I will treasure always.
"If you love vampire romance, you'll love this"

Jasik, because he led a life based on honor.
Both main characters were memorable in that they were written well enough to havve different personalities and they were intersting.
As a female who loves male sexuality in novels, this fit the bill. Reminiscent of the relationship between Armand & Marius (Anne Rice) and of J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood in terms of strength/weakness helping each other, it isn't a world-class novel, but it is very good romantic fiction. The narrator was good at having different voices for different characters but got the inflection wrong some of the time so it didn't reflect the emotion of the moment, but at other times got it perfect. I would have given it a 5 only if I thought it should be classified as one of those must-read novels destined to be a classic. Since it's just a fun, but good read, I only gave it 4's.
Surprisingly good romance combined with a pretty action-packed story. Really good narration as well.
This was my first book by this author.. it was amazing story.. I loved the characters and their POVs. kept me on the edge of my seat couldn't stop listening. Definitely this book has become one of favorites and became a fan of the author... would recommend it... 😁
I like the world the author cresated in this book - its a brutal and unforgiving place where both the prisoners and the guards are s... out of luck. But the love between the prisoners and the chief guard is heartwarming and the story about the other prisoners and the way the guards have their own motive for being there are not easily predictable. Well done!
Jack LeFleur is always good, and this is no exception.
"Jack LeFleur is the only good in this book"
It needs a plot, a point, and a revision.
I bought this book because I love his voice. He was the only reason I kept going. But even he couldn't make me finish this mess of a novel.
No. Just no. Of course with all the crappy books out there that have been made into films....
This book had a good start. But it just began to drag on. I didn't know what was going on, and I didn't see the point of what was happening. It felt like the author was manufacturing actions to force the story forward instead of allowing them to make logical choices. The characters were stupid. Not badly written but made to do things that were silly. Like if one had to choose between A or B and B was the best answer, the hero would choose A for no logical reason. And the author didn't write the character as if he were rash or illogical...or stupid. The choice was just there to set up some action scene later on. I was seriously annoyed by this book, to the point where I stopped halfway through it. Right now I am trying to force myself to finish out of pure principle.
