Former SEAL sniper Cody Roberts has returned from Afghanistan with too many demons and a simple wish: to be left alone. Working for K2 Special Services, caring for the war dogs he rescued, playing his guitar - that's all he wants to do. But Cody is as protective as his nickname, "Dog", suggests. A man like that can't sit back when he realizes the beautiful veterinarian next door is being targeted by an unknown enemy.
Riley Austin is desperate to find out who's poisoning her animal patients, and she's stunned by her mysterious neighbor's suggestion that it's personal. But Cody makes her feel something else, too: a powerful attraction. He insists he's no good for her, but those haunted eyes and that chiseled body tell Riley that surrendering to their mutual lust is worth the risk. And despite his conditions - no falling for each other, no regrets once it's over - she'll fight to love him just as fiercely as he'll fight to save her.

YES IT IS NOT A BAD BOOK
I HAVE ALL OF THE BOOKS SO FAR IN THIS SERIES
"Sebastian York narration best part!"
This story was only adequate. If it wasn't free through Kindle Unlimited I would have asked for a refund. The female narrator was barely tolerable. The male narrator was perfection. He saved the story and made me want to finish.
"Even Sebastian York could not save the horrible female narrator!!!"
I had to DNF. She has a horrible voice. And I could listen to Sebastian York read the phone book. I may try to read this to gauge the story but I cannot recommend the audio.
I've listened to some great books on kindle unlimited but this series was extraordinary. I loved how the charge characters weren't they had issues. At the end it took caring, compassion and love to unite that which was fragile and broken. This is one series I will definitely listen to again. Thanks for terrific reads.
Loved the story. The narrator's were spectacular. The character's were well developed throughout the whole story.
"Best audiobook in this series"
Before this book I tolerated the audiobooks in this series as the male narrator was not a good choice for romance reading. Finally, the last book and he was switched out for Sebastian York and all is well.
Good story, the K2 men series was a good "read"
I loved the story, but I was disappointed with the change in narrators. I wish Michael Naramore had done this book as well.
loved every book in the series... would love it if there were several more.... great heart warming romance plus edge of your seat drama... all the characters were wonderful and the love shown by the make characters to their women and there furry friends was breathtaking.
A wonderful story with all the elements that make it so enthralling - suspense, great characters, humor, many poignant moments that bring on tears. One of my favorite books in quite a while!
Really enjoyed this series. Loveable characters, interesting stories, well written. Each book had intriguing story and unique characters.
"Fun And Loving"
This is a story you will love for its fun loving nature but also forgiven yourself and forgiving others.
