I'm a huge Tanya Anne Crosby fan...I've read this story twice & enjoyed the audio that much more. It was short enough for me to listen to while decorating for Christmas. The best part of audio is that I don't "race" through the words to get to the story...they are all there to enjoy to the end. I highly recommend this audio version.
"Great Story - Outstanding Performance!"
I love listening to Scottish accents, and James Gillies did a fantastic job with that. Then to hear him speak the Gaelic words that I have no idea how to pronounce - well, I was totally entranced!
Several memorable moments in the story stand out, but there were two that really got me. The first one was Callum's declaration of his intent to marry Annie after their romantic interlude, and the second was when he decided that if Annie had to die then it would be by his hand.
I liked everything about James Gillies's performance. I hadn't heard him before so I hoped his narration was good, but it was even better than expected. His ability to switch from British narration to American character to Scottish character, and then add in the Gaelic - he was just awesome! His emotional treatment of the characters and his pacing were most appropriate and kept me involved with the story.
The one moment that will stay with me is when Callum called Annie, "mo chroi." Knowing that it meant "my heart," it was good to read in the book but so much better hearing it spoken. I might have melted just a little bit, right then.
Once Upon A Highland Legend: Guardians of the Stone is such a good story, and even better when hearing it performed by James Gillies. I hope to hear more of his work, especially if that means I can hear his Scottish accent again!
"I liked this one. short but entertaining."
This made the rest of the books make sense. I'm glad I found it. will listen to the next one today.
"Best Audiobook Ive ever heard"
Yes. The narrator did a lovely job and the accents were great. Some places had me laughing out loud.
I loved the plot and the storyline. I haven't read many time traveling books but how the woman describes what is going on around her I just found hilarious at times.
His ability to offer the listener a variety of accents.
I laughed out loud several times!
I would highly recommend this audio to everyone, especially readers who love audios and time-travel. What an amazing fun novella "Once Upon a Highland Legend”, written by Tanya Anne Crosby, was to listen to. Some scenes are so funny because of the time period difference that I laughed out loud, like the one when Callum meets Annie for the first time, looking at her with her red J-string, so cute! And her modern comments and his, in his Scottish burr, were to die for! It’s a fantastic short time travel
There were so many fun moments!I love everything about this book, the time travel in the past, the chemistry between Annie and Callum, the plot..
This is the first time that I listen to an audio narrated by James Gillies. He has the perfect voice for this story! His different tones for the female voices, specially for Annie, was formidable. I just loved his Scottish burr! The intonation was perfect. What can I say! Tanya Anne Crosby chose the ideal narrator for her novella.I will highly recommend him to my other author friends.
I listen to it with my earphones, and laughed out loud...during some scenes. some were sad...
I highly recommend this audio, you won't be disappointed!
"Good for mixed company."
I enjoyed this book. It was light hearted. with adventure and entertaining characters. Easy to follow.Graphic romance was minimal. It was more about the story and only nessasery romance. I will listen to this over and over.
"All the same elements of Outlander and still it's own story"
Good story. Certain themes are exactly like Outlander, but she American. It is a novella and the story ends quickly.
"I, IT'S SHORT BUT IT'S A VERA VERA SWEET ROMANCE"
I don't usually like to use a credit up on such a short book but as this is part of the Guardians Of The Stone series I thought it's bound to be worth it..... and I was right coz yeah it's short but it packs a lot of story and detail into 3 hours 22 minutes..
Always obsessed with Scotland's The Stone Of Destiny loner Annie's deepest wishes came true when she was transported back through time to The Cairngorms in 878. There she is captured by a handsome Highlander named Callum who's a Pict and a Clan Leader but, as it slowly but surely sinks in just where and when she is, Callum doesn't trust this woman whose clothes are vera weird. He, and a group of others, have just stolen T.S.O.D. and is vera vera wary who she might be and is reluctant but ready to take off her head. There's also hostile looks and someone has an alternative plan for The Stone and Callum and has just killed his Father because of it.
It's a funny time travel tale that's got warmth to the characters so you can't help but become enthralled in the plot and outcome of this Highland romance. Great narrator who did a fantastic job in defining everyone's characters and accents.
Worth a credit? I didn't think it was going to be..... but Hell Yeah it is.
