Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Samantha Young’s On Dublin Street, the hottest new romance best seller.

Jocelyn Butler has been hiding from her past for years. But all her secrets are about to be laid bare...

Four years ago, Jocelyn left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Scotland, burying her grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without attachments. Her solitary life is working well - until she moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street, where she meets a man who shakes her carefully guarded world to its core.

Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, and he’s determined to get Jocelyn into his bed. Knowing how skittish she is about entering a relationship, Braden proposes an arrangement that will satisfy their intense attraction without any strings attached. But after an intrigued Jocelyn accepts, she realizes that Braden won’t be satisfied with just mind-blowing passion.

The stubborn Scotsman is intent on truly knowing her… down to the very soul.

Incredibly passionate and downright romantic, On Dublin Street is a captivating and bittersweet story of the redemptive power of love.

Critic reviews

“Scotland’s answer to E.L. James” ( Sunday Post)
”This extraordinary debut combines a true gift for storytelling with a liberal dose of racy encounters. But what really sets it apart is exquisite characterisation, so vivid that the cast seeps into the reader’s psyche” ( Daily Record)
”Highly recommend this one” ( USA Today)

Unexpectedly brilliant

First time I have ever given a five star review. This book just seemed to touch all the right notes for me. The narration was excellent with distinct voices for each character that were both masculine and feminine. Both the hero and heroine were likable and yet not too perfect. And there were some seriously funny moments - in particular their first couple of meetings. Neither lead characters were perfect but I found I loved them both and their romance was absorbing. I found the issues with the heroine were realistic and made her a truly damaged soul, but her acknowledgement of this and her efforts to seek help made her all the more real. Her panic attacks and moments of madness were both real and understandable. Even when I did not like what she was doing, I could still understand and emphathise with her - all credit to the author on this! I thought the ending was perfect and tied up all the loose ends in a completely satisfying way. I actually am looking forward to listening to this book again - something that I rarely do.

Loved the story!

Really loved the story. A bit “too much” sometimes, but that’s the way I love my romance novels. The narrator didn’t really sell the male voices to me however, and let’s not talk about the Scottish accent. Did like how the main character was portrayed by her though.

Exciting emotional heart rendering tale

I had this in my list to read for some time. If I knew it would be this good I would've read it a long time ago. We can all identify with elements of the vulnerability the h exudes at some level. It was endearing and infuriating in equal measures at times. There were times I wanted to slap her and times I wanted to hug her. The fact I wanted to "do" anything to a character, and the emotional rollercoaster this book put me through is testimony to how great this book was.

Warning - appalling Scottish accents

A great light holiday read but if you set a story in Scotland then surely a realistic Scottish accent is essential skill needed in the narrator. This narrator’s is dire - not even vaguely close to authentic. It almost , but not quite, makes it impossible to listen to.

My new favourite author!

I can not believe I’ve never heard of Samantha Young before! I downloaded this book on the off chance, had completely forgotten I’d purchased it. Decided to give it a go and WOW! One of the best romance books I’ve listened to in a long while!! The characters are so relatable and likeable, I need a Braden in my life! Fantastic story line, steamy bedroom antics... I give it a 10+ out of 10. Can’t wait to listen to more by SY.
