Summary

Let #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts fly you into Lunacy, Alaska, and into a colorful, compelling novel about two lonely souls who are searching for love and redemption...

As a Baltimore cop, Nate Burke watched his partner die on the street - and the guilt still haunts him. With nowhere else to go, he accepted the job as Chief of Police in a tiny, remote Alaskan town with the hopes of starting over. Despite the name, Lunacy provides a balm for Nate’s shattered soul - and an unexpected affair with pilot Meg Galloway warms his nights....

But other things in Lunacy are heating up. Nate suspects the killer in an unsolved murder still walks the snowy streets. His investigation will unearth the secrets and suspicions that lurk beneath the placid surface, as well as bring out the big-city survival instincts that made him a cop in the first place. And his discovery will threaten the new life - and the new love - that he has finally found for himself.

Critic reviews

"[A] richly textured novel that captures the intimacy of smalltown police work, the prickliness of the pioneer spirit and the paradox of a setting at once intimate and expansive." (Publishers Weekly)

"Roberts's latest hit novel could not be performed better." (AudioFile

excellent audio experience

This is one of the better audiobooks that I have listen too.
The story told from a male main character, which is not common for a Nora Roberts book and Gary Littan handles all the characters parts brillantly each sound expressing the character personality and carry you easily though the story.

This is certainly an audio which I gladly listen to over and over again

Northern nights lovely narration by sexy American.

I read the book several years ago and thought I would like to hear it again. I was very pleased with the narrators voice. He takes the parts of the different characters very well and the book is much funnier than I remember and I'm sure that is due to hearing the book spoken in an appropriate accent for the setting rather than a welsh accent (in my head).Really enjoying it.

please...

Any additional comments?

...give me Lunacy, Nate and a room, please, I really liked him. Nora Roberts did a good job, the book made me smile from time to time, for exemple Nate in the small airplane on his way to Lunacy.

Excellent story very well narrated

Set in Alaska this story revolves around two central characters both flawed and scarred by their previous experiences. Megan is a bush pilot who lives outside the town of Lunacy with her two dogs and her interactions with and increasing attraction to the chief of police form one of the main strands in the story. The story is gripping and I did not guess the relevant identity until close to the end. The life of a small town in Alaska is beautifully evoked and the narration is a pleasure. Highly recommended.

Sorry not for me

I have read many Nora Roberts books and have some audiobooks too but for whatever reason, I just can’t get into this one. The narrator, Gary Littman, is the best part about it, he is very good and makes it easy to differentiate between the characters but I have lost attention while listening so many times and have realised the plot doesn’t grip me enough to keep going. It’s going back I’m afraid. I think I need to try something completely different, maybe revisit Harry Potter read by Stephen Fry, they have been in my library for a while and give Nora a break. Sorry !

Good reading - good story - very enjoyable

One of the reasons I bought this book was because of the narrator. I hadn't heard a man reading a Nora Roberts book and I was interested in how it would sound. Gary Littman was great. I loved some of his voices, particularly Hop, and he kept me interested and entertained. It's a good story. Has made me interested in seeing Alaska and has some good characters in it. If you like Nora Roberts, you'll like this one.

Great story

A cop who needs to get away after the death of his partner goes to work in Alaska. Seeing him settle in to and become part of the community was really enjoyable, but seeing him fall in love and get the bad guy was great.
