Tragic is over and Rook is ready for the future - Spencer Shrike and the Sturgis contract! It's three months of body art modeling! That means three months of Spencer Shrike's paintbrush all over her body, three months in front of Antoine's camera, and three months of 24-hour filming for Spencer's Biker Channel reality show.
Wait a minute...what reality show? Maybe she should've read that Sturgis contract a little closer?
Sure, Rook's bank account is overflowing, but Ronin is angry, Clare is trying to escape rehab, Antoine is a worried mess, and Elise is just trying to hold everyone together. Rook's new family is about to fall apart before she even gets the chance to enjoy it. Add in a mysterious man from her past, a road trip to the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and a final show in front of the entire world where all her goods are on display, and you've got Manic - a sizzling erotic romance that will leave you begging for more.

"Very hot, sexy and mysterious!"
It was very intimate and mysterious!
These questions are tough because you don't want to give anything away... but I found all of the interactions between Rook and Ford very interesting.
They were so believable. They embodied the characters.
The scene where Ronin tells Rook that he loves her.
Can't wait to see where this story goes. Good, solid story and narrating.
Isn't the audio always better than the print? I, for one, love hearing these characters come to life.
Tragic. Panic. Considering this is book 2 in the Rook and Ronin series, it only makes sense it is similar to the first and third books. It also reminds me a bit of Social Media by the same author.
Spencer--does he count? He's my favorite Huss man, so I'm going with Spencer
The painting. Always the sensuality of the painting.
"Book Two of My Favorite Series EVER!"
Manic is the second book in the Rook and Ronin series. It begins where Tragic left off with the hero and heroine working on where they stand as a couple. There are a lot of hurdles that this couple needs to overcome to make it together.
What I like about this part of the story is watching as Rook and Ronin continue to struggle to be a couple. There are so many outside forces that come against them. Claire is drawing Ronin away and while Rook is slightly jealous she trusts Ronin. The thing is Spenser and Ford are pulling at Rook’s heart strings too. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t the same way that Ronin holds her heart but there are so many secrets still.
We learn more about the friendship that Ronin, Spenser, and Ford have both past and present. I love all these characters and the unique setting of the story. The possibilities of all the good and bad that can happen keep the reader/listener on their toes.
The narrators are excellent. Jennifer Reilly brings the damaged yet still naïve Rook to life. I feel Rook’s story in my soul as I listen to Ms. Reilly. She conveys the fear, joy, hurt, and love with her voice. Troy Duran is perfect as Ronin. I love how he helps the listener feel Ronin’s love for Rook while keeping him a little secretive. You can hear between the lines.
This is the book that made me fall in love with Spenser and Ford even though I didn’t want to all the time. (At least in Ford’s case.)
An Excellent job all around. When I first read the three Rook and Ronin books, I said this is my all-time favorite series. To this day, it is still my favorite series.
So happy the rest of the series is being put on audible. I love JA Huss and I love the Rook and Ronin story...and the introduction of the other characters...Spencer, Ford... Cannot wait for Panic! Troy Duran and Jennifer Reilly are perfect as the narrators! Cannot wait for more from Julie!
"Holy Crap!! That was intense"
Manic is ranked in my top 10 audiobooks
Rook was my favorite character in this book. His love for Rook shines through in the performance of the narrator
I absolutely LOVE Troy Duran! He is amazing!!! though I have never heard Jennifer Reilly before, I will absolutely be on the lookout for more of her work.
It was, and I did!
"A MUST read come to life!!"
I love this book. This story. These characters. Listening to the audio was a reawakening of everything this story made me feel!! I LOVED it. That is all.
yes yes yes. This is one of my favorite series ever and I love being able to listen to it over and over again. The story is so captivating and having it in audible is fantastic.
I'm not telling the story
They bring emotion that you dont always get by reading it to yourself.
read this story from start to finish. all the books in the series are fantastic! They are much different than any book series I've read. Huss is a master twister
"Sensational Romantic Suspense"
Three words that sum up Manic for me are strong, fragile, and team.
I adored Rook as the main character and her relationship with each of the men. Rook really comes into her own in Manic. With the help of Ford, she comes to realize that she owns her past and she owns fixing her problems. I really liked the inner strength of this character.
The narrators really embody each of the characters. They gave each one a distinct voice. Their performance grabbed me. Although I've read this book many times before, the narration focused my attention on details of the book that I either didn't remember or hadn't previously noticed.
I would have loved to be on a long road trip so that I could listen to both Manic and book 1 (Tragic) in one sitting. Alas, I was forced to listen in short bursts on my commute to and from work.
"5 I'm a chaser stars!"
The narrators ability to make you feel like you are front and center watching everything unfold. Troy and Jennifer may not have been the narrators from the first book but they did an equally amazing job. Most of the time I forgot I was listening to a book because I was so caught up in it all.
Hmmm, ok I have to be honest. I love Ronin but thanks to family issues he is not there for Rook who may have bitten off more than she could handle with the Sturgis contract. She unfortunately has to learn a lesson on contracts the hard way. Luckily (here is where my favorite part comes in) we are able to get more of Spencer and Ford. Not everyone is what they seem, of course this wouldn't be a JA Huss book if everyone was perfect. That's also one of the things I like about this story and it's characters, they all have a past and their motives aren't always clear. JA Huss is a master at feeding you just enough information to keep you hooked.
When Spencer tackles Ford in the studio! The whole scene and Rook's reactions were hilarious.
There were a lot of laugh out loud moments, but also the ending will have your heart racing.
Outstanding performance by both Jennifer & Troy, beautiful voices that bring this story to life for the listener.
This series was my first introduction to Julie A Huss and I haven't stopped reading her books since. None was happier than me when her books started coming out in audio.
Highly recommend starting with the first book in this series and just follow the trail people, you won't me disappointed.
