However, even after the trials, tribulations and triumphs of their initiation, Spain has not yet finished with them. Embarrassing subtleties of the language, brushes with the local police, the unfortunate outcome of a drinking session - surprises are aplenty to test the resolve, stamina and, perhaps more importantly, the sense of humour of this venturesome (some would say foolhardy) emigre family.
Their eccentric and colourful new friends are always on hand to help out - for better or worse - and add spice to this engaging account of tranquilo life from the author of Snowball Oranges. All the charm of Mallorca: where you seldom do today what can be more judiciously put off till manana!

"Is it me or is it improving?"
I really enjoyed the story, and was tempted to try his other book but Mr Bryce still has the tendency to "read" and the performance lacks flow but I must say that iether I am getting ued to this or it is improved. I like the way he portrays the characters and there, there is no problem, but when reading the narrative
and reaching the end of a line
he goes on to the next
instead of giving the narrative a natural flow as most narrators do so that it sounds as if the story is being told and not
I found it to be perfect bedside listening, putting me into a good mood before falling asleep.
There are a few hillarious sketches that had me roaring with laughter.
