Love is the most powerful kind of magic. Baodan McMillan values many things in life: friendship, loyalty, kindness, but certainly not love. After the tragic death of his wife many years ago, he hardened himself to the idea of giving his heart to another. There is only one lass who can thaw his chilly heart, a lass he's never met nor knows of, a lass whose birth won't occur until centuries after his death.
Mitsy Fredrickson is in serious need of a distraction. With the ink still drying on her divorce papers, she flies to Scotland determined to forget about her own problems by helping her best friend re-enter reality. She knows Bri's claims that she is able to travel back in time and is currently living in the year 1647 are a lie but, instead of locating her friend, Mitsy falls prey to the same magic and is quickly forced to believe the impossible.
Modern and sassy, Mitsy finds few in the 17th century who know how to take her fiery personality, but she finds her match in Baodan, laird of McMillan Castle. He is her opposite in every way, yet she feels balanced in his presence. The more time she spends with him, the harder she falls. She suspects he feels the same way, but something is holding him back - a dark secret from his past that even Baodan doesn't fully understand. Mitsy works to uncover what is hidden in the hopes that with resolution, Baodan will be free to love her. But the truth is darker than she expects, and it threatens to destroy them both.

"Love conquerors misplaced doubt, anger, and fear of succeeding"
Baodan comes across Mitsy when she arrives 'from the future' with enough strangely spoken futuristic jargon and a too spirited attitude for a lady of that day and time that Baodan believes that Mitsy may not have all her mental faculties nailed in place. And then there is all the havoc that is taking place in and around Baodan's life, home and extended family that keeps the pace of all the extenuating circumstances revved up to full throttle in a way that makes it seem that there is no hope for a positive outcome for all the troubles. But . . .
Baodan finally opens his eyes to allowing himself to take a less biased view of his circumstances and a more honest look at his feelings for Mitsy, and they do get to have their HEA!!! Was there any doubt?!
All the characters from the previous books of the series make appearances so you can catch glimpses of their ongoing lives and all of their own HEA's. This is a charming series of stories in the cozy setting of Scotland that simply warms the heart.
"Love Beyond Hope.. I loved this one. "
This novel was exciting. Had more action and kept me wanting to keep reading. So I did all day until I finished. Awesome. Can't wait until my next book.
"Medieval Time Travel with a side order of Sass!"
I really like the characters. Bethany Claire (the author) has a way of making you like these characters, even when they are in the most ridiculous of circumstances. What I liked least was that the main female character, Mitsy cussed like a sailor! This was supposedly her way of showing that she was sassy and was a thoroughly modern 21st century female.
The relationship between the brothers was the most interesting. Also seeing what it takes to heal Baodan's heart kept me involved in the story. The least interesting was unfortunately the mystery plot. The villain was so obvious within the first 1//4th of the book that there was no mystery left to that plot line.
Lily is a very nice narrator. Her voice is pleasant to listen to. BUT, these books are based in Scotland, with a modern American thrown in for flavor. But Lily uses no accents. All her voices sound the same.
Oh yeah... we have to know what happened to "IO" ...(no spoilers, sorry....)
All in all, I love this series. It's snack food reading. Light, fun, and after you've had some, you want some more!
"Loving this series!!"
Love and adventure
There is no comparing this series to any other story, it is in a class by itself.
I really don't have a favorite. Lily does a wonderful job with all of the characters. I can't wait to sit down and listen to the story when she tells it. Her voice puts me right in the middle of the story.
Love's lasting adventures.
I have read all of this authors books, but this one is a personal favorite. Bethany has all the elements for a great story in this one intrigue, romance , humor, and time travel.
"The Adventure continues"
I had already read the book but the narrator really brings the characters to life and enhances the story itself.
The 2 min characters had been hurt by love before and it was hard for them to see a happy future. When they find each other it is the perfect match. The two together are stronger that each on separately and when there is a threat to the family they bring everyone together
The wedding scene - they both deserved the happiness of a second chance
I like to take my time listening to enjoy the story
The book by Bethany Claire is beautifully written with great dialog but it is further enhanced by the narration of Lily Collingwood. They make a great team
Engaging, Humorous Spectacular
When Misty and Baodan met in the pond
When “Eoghanan stepped forward, his voice low and just as angry as Baodan’s. “Surely, ye doona mean to leave Niall to watch over her? He’ll have her undressed and in his bed before sundown.”
Baodan shook his head, glancing down at me. I assumed he meant to reassure me that he wouldn’t let that happen. “I doona like it but ye are right. I canna leave her with Niall.”
“Then give me a chance, brother. ’Tis no the same as it was with her and ye know it.”

Mitsy and Baodans are complete opposites, she's sassy and he's quiet and demanding. But as they say opposites attract. But there is something funny going on and Baodan must fine out what it is.
This is a SPECTACULAR Read! This story will have you LOL and If you love romance this is definitely a fabulous choice for your TBR list. I am hoping there will be a lot more exciting time traveling stories.
I haven't read the written version. I love the audible one, as I can listen while getting ready for work & in the car
When Owen realizes that Brielle is from the future.
She is an excellent narrator. She brings the characters to life
Yes. I couldn't wait for my work day to be over, so I could get back to it!
I have listened to the first 3 books plus a novella, & I am anxious to hear the rest!
"Another wonderful book by Bethany Claire"
I loved that another romance blossoms between Baodan McMillan and Mitsy Frederickson. I enjoy the time travel stories.
I love that Mitsy did not believe Bri's claim of time travel and then she experiences the same thing.
I have listened to Lily Collingwood's other performances with the other books previously in this series. I have enjoyed each one of them.
I enjoyed the entire book.
As always I can't wait to read more in the series.
"Texas goes to Scotland!"
Series: Book 3: Morna’s Legacy
Characters: Baodan McMillan & Mitsy Fredrickson
Setting: Scotland (Past/Present), Texas (Present)
Mature Themes: Sex & violence
Recommendation: The story was one that reminded me why I fell in love with the series in the beginning and the last few chapters gave me goose bumps. If you’ve liked the other Morna series, then keep reading, this one one disappoint.
Mitsy has one friend, and Bri has gone crazy, talking of living in the past in Scotland and marrying a laird. When Mitsy’s marriage falls apart she decides she’s got nothing better to do than to rescue her poor crazy friend lost in a foreign country. Little did she know Bri was far from crazy and magic was real.
Mitsy was a different character than I was expecting. When she started as a broken flower, her character adapted, overcame, and ended as a fiery woman who gave two brothers a run for their money. The standard Morna cast of characters was present, though in a more limited capacity, but Bri, her mother, the baby and everyone else was there to cry, celebrate, and scheme together. Baodan was a gruff and harsh man who quickly softened when Mitsy entered his life. Baodan was a weaker main character, closer to Eoin than the other previous two. His “flaw” was weak, and his progression to healed was quick and very linear.
The love story between the two characters was the most cookie cutter of the stories so far, two divorced/widowed people connecting, both given up on love until they meet the other. The underlying story was wonderful, it harkened back to the first book and had a deep and complicated twist that was rewarding to finish.
Lily Collingwood’s many voices are growing in numbers and the diversity in her roles and voices is beginning to blur together. Certain characters still stand out as different, and Mitsy’s had the opportunity to as a Texas accent would have been a great differentiator, sadly, the chance was not taken and Mitsy sounded generic. As usual, the recording quality was great with no hum or distortion and made the entire focus on the story.
