A compelling tale

I really enjoyed this story from the start. It was easy to listen to. At first I thought it was going to be rather obvious and predictable but I loved the way the story unfolded over a long time-scale with a few unexpected twists. Highly recommend.

True love can be tough

The story is about the true love, with all the romance and the innoncence that comes with it. It reminds us of our 'old days' - for those who are married. The characters will explore feelings such as tenderness, hope and disappointment.

The narrator is good at expressing all these feelings.

I recommand.

Not as good as others!

This was an enjoyable listen and I enjoyed the story and ending. But it was not as good as others of her books.

Lovely

I enjoy Jojo Moyes' writing, she shows understanding of human relationships, the nature love and is able to set these in to wonderful stories. This is an enchanting story about two affairs, one in the present one in the past. The author interweaves the two plots through the story of journalist finding the love letters in an archive and investigating them. The contrast between modern texting and letter writing is clever and beautiful and you really want to know what happens in both the couples' lives. As always a lovely ending to a well written story. I enjoy this author and will be reading more. Thoroughly recommended if you like stories that reveal human emotions and relationships in all their frailty.

Excellent

This was my second book by Jojo Moyes - quite different from the last one but equally entertaining and an interesting and well thought out storyline.

Have looked at the library and all her books seem quite different, different eras, countries, genres and fully intend to try more.

Would make a great film

Really enjoyed this, especially interesting how the lives of married women of certain social status have changed. It doesn’t seem that long ago, and yet it could be a hundred years. Not so keen on the narrator’s portrayal of the male voices, too gruff, to similar and it felt like she was over trying to be masculine - spoilt the story a little.
