Publisher's Summary

Hands full taking care of his clan, the last thing Reid Carver needs is a woman poking her cute little nose into his affairs. But when Tammy refuses to back down - and shows the courage to stand up to him - he can't resist the allure of the curvy city girl. And when a rival clan thinks to use her to force his paw, he'll show them why you never piss off a Kodiak or threaten what's his.

Tammy is convinced that all men are scum, even gorgeous ones like Reid. She knows he's hiding something - something big. She just never expected a real bear hiding underneath all those yummy muscles. But when the truth comes out, and he tries to scare her off with a roar, she shows him that it's not just bears who have bite.

    "A Good Read"

I was delighted to see Kodiak's Claim, which is part of the Kodiak Point Series, was now an audio having read the eBook. This is a really funny love story with a very interesting cast of characters including a Grandma Bear, a Moose, a Fox, more Bears and a few wolves plus a Human.

Tammy is a sassy BBW gal who doesn't take grief from boyfriends. The "I'm going to barbecue a steak" scene is hilarious. What was that man thinking?

Tammy is sent to Alaska to investigate an insurance claim and that's where her adventure really begins. There's an alpha bear who meets his city girl and, of course, his bear knows more than his human part. There's attraction, there's danger, there's even a really crazy guy, and, of course, there's love.

This book has a HEA ending and introduces the characters for the next book in the series - Outfoxed by Love. It's also nice to have the beautiful blond receptionist be a really nice person who knows how to take care of herself rather than being the "bad guy".

The narrator Chandra Skyye is very good. She's got the right kind of sass and she makes it easy to know which character is speaking. I've listened to her on several other audio books and she makes for a good audio experience.

    "Yummy smexy bear!!!"

Oh man, I love grumpy bears!! This is great start to the series, which is sure to be a must buy!

Reid is deliciously Alpha and cluelessly male! He tries to fight the attraction, some silly shifter human no-no nonsense. Thank fully he just can not resist sassy curvy gal Tammy. I love their banter and the whole dynamic they share. Beware frying pans! LOL

The love comes fast here, but it is a true mates kind of thing, so I guess I buy into it. I can see it growing from the affection that is apparent and the combustible chemistry they share. There is plenty of hawt and heavy steam to get your engines revved!! Have a bowl of ice cream, a cold shower or your fella handy! Whoa mamma, things are definitely detailed and smexy!

The narrative is mixed giving you the POV of the leads as well as the bad guy. I am not sure about how awful he really is, something that might show itself later in the series. The side plot is a bit murky. I could see where things were headed, but they were too vague at times. I expect that is to keep suspense for things to come. I did enjoy the plot and the get together for the couple, it was just too short. I wanted more of the build for the resolution, maybe later.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Chandra Skyye, who was fabulous. I loved her energy through the read and the life she gave the characters. Her tone was perfect for delivering the snappy snarky dialogue. She kept the men just gruff enough to be real without going into the realm of caricature. Her pace is nice if you like to listen at regular speed, I like to punch things up to double, where things are still enjoyable. I will definitely be looking for more of her reads and hope she stays with the series.

I am so very thrilled to see this author in audio, because I really miss reading her books! I wish I had more ebook time, but now I only have to worry about how fast they will be recorded!

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Any additional comments?

Kodiak's Claim started with a bang. I have to admit the heroine was great! She was not going to take mess from anyone. Throughout the book the two main characters were fighting the attraction to one another before they just caved in. The best part was when the heroine finds out the hero is an actually bear. That entire scene to me was funny. Never mess with a city girl with a frying pan. LOL. On to the next book in the series.

    "Funny"

This book is a romantic, comedy, mystery and paranormal.

I have to say first, it took me a while to figure out if I wanted to slap myself on the forehead or laugh so hard I'll cry. I have to admit the slap stick comedy, adventure and romance was refreshing. I learned quickly not to drink any fluids when listening to this book, the unpredictability of the characters and some not so unpredictable, and the things they say, lol. Saying that, the book is hilarious and I can almost seeing it playing out as a cartoon cross between Scooby-do and Archer. So not for kids.

Reid Carver is a shift in Alaska he is not only the town only supplier of goods from the outside world, he is also his packs Alpha and with that comes expectations of him. But when his trucks begin to disappear and his people are missing, he has the insurance company raising red flags, so they send in an agent. When he gets a good look at the plump woman he bear awakens and all it wants is to claim it’s mate.

Tammy just dumped her last man for cheating on her, lying to her and in revenge she set all his things on fire and washed her hands of all men. When her job takes her to Alaska, she gets more than she bargains for. As the mystery and events unfold so does her feelings for the man that she keeps accidently trying to kill. She realizes she is in for a big surprise when all the secretes are revealed and not all is what it appears to be. Not only is her life in danger but so is her sanity.

It’s a great book, I wish there was more details of the bond and emotions, but the comedy and how the story keeps you on your toes, it was good. Not for me though, sorry.
