I read the book and loved it, listing to it brought it to life. Kade was wonderful as was the narrator Ryan West.
I loved the different twists and spins going through out the book it kept you hooked and wanting to know what was going to happen next !!!
I just loved the whole story it was one of adventure, exploration of the unknown as well as battling evil that is around threatening their futures .
I love the smoothness and flow of the way he told the book and also with him saying some of the names and other unusual names you get to hear it how the author want's to be said!! also much more imagination is used when describing some scenes
No i wish i could but listened to it snippets while getting on with daily life !!
I'm not sure if it was the narration or the book on a whole :-( but I found the female lead was annoying and that there was not enough detail in Kades background or in anything to be honest. I love my vampire/ werewolf/ supernatural goings on books but this just didn't cut it for me.
Sydney is a sassy spitfired detective from Philadelphia who has a mouth on her that would make any sailor proud! Kade is a sexy Alpha vampire from New Orleans who has made the trip to Philly to help investigate the murders.
When it becomes obvious that hints of magic are involved in the deaths, Kade soon realizes it is someone from his past. When Sydney gets attacked at her home, Kade takes her to his home in NOLA to keep her safe. Kade must enlist all of his allies to find Simone before too many more people have to die.
I absolutely loved hearing this on audio! It reminded me why I fell in love with The Immortals of New Orleans and Kym Grosso!
Ryan West did an amazing job narrating this! I am starting on Logan's book next and cannot wait to hear him on it!
"HATE the heroine"
Rest of the storyline and story telling was good the lead female was supposed to be tough and independent just came off as bitchy and stupid. He says don't go out alone you have no idea how dangerous this black magic is. She says oh yeah? Don't tell me what to do I'm a bad ass cop. She sneaks off alone and of course gets caught and hurt. Rinse repeat. And he falls madly in love with her. Why exactly? She is arrogant judge mental and rude and mostly irresponsible and rude.
"Kade's Dark Embrace ~ Rocks!"
This story rocked! It's a well-developed, faced paced, full of suspense, and had lots of smokin hot sex scenes that had me craving more.
The characters, a sexy mix of vampires, wolfs, and witches, were well developed and the attraction between Kade and Sydney was electrifying. Even though this story was about Kade and Sydney, we are introduced to other sexy immortals, and I can't wait to listen to their stories. No cliffhangers; however, it does set the stage for Luca's story.
Ryan West did an awesome job narrating and made the story even more enjoyable!
Kim Grosso is now in my top ten favorite authors!
"Holy Hotness Batman!!!!"
Not only would I recommend this audiobook I already have!! This book has everything a Paranorm reader is looking for. Vamps, Wolves, Witches an OMG hot sex.
Id have to say my favorite part of this story is the first bar scene....I loved the way Sydney was able to blend right in an fight of an attacker and then the scene on the dance floor was very very hot.
Yes...I really really liked his character voice's in this book compared to the last one of his audibles I listened to. He really did an amazing job with the different accents. His Luca accent is amazing!!!
Oh yes!! and I would have if I didn't have to sleep. This is my favorite thing about audiobooks I can still cook, clean, do laundry & walk the dogs all while enjoying the story.
Kym Grosso has done a very good thing for her readers by putting The Immortals of New Orleans on audio.....it doesnt get any hotter then having these stories read to you by a man with a very sexy voice. Well done Kym...very well done.
"DO NOT MISS THIS FAST-PACED PARANORMAL ROMANCE"
Wow, what a brilliant start to a brand new series as this has everything a PNR lover should want..... a sexy gorgeous Alpha Vampire Hero and a strong sassy independent Heroine whose instant sexual attraction nicely developed into a tender romance that had some sexy love scenes that were just right. There's a tense plot involving Werewolves, Witches, Mages, revenge, greed, magic and ritualistic murders and a host of interesting secondary characters.
Then, as if that wasn't enough, Ryan West easily tackled every accent needed and brought each character to life so, at all times, you knew exactly who was talking out of the multitude of characters.
Worth a credit? It's well-written, flowed nicely from various POV's, was an addictive 'action in every chapter' listen and the romance was oh so good..... so ABSOLUTELY worth a credit and I can't wait for the next instalment which will be an auto download for me.
This book had no redeeming features. The main character is shallow and less than intelligent. The main supporting character is a stereotype. The narrator is absolutely the worse I have ever heard. I didn't even finish the book.
I would cut all characters and ask Kym to start all over again.
"Tall Dark and Deadly"
Darkness Evil Love
None that I've read it was unique and exciting
Sydney running away to Philly and thinking she was going to one of Tristan's rental homes only to find Kade there waiting for her with a shocking revelation
Love Lurks in the Darkness
Mystery, romance and paranormal creatures abound. A killer is loose In the streets of Philly, victims appear to be drained dry and dressed like dolls. Local police are trying to solve the crime when Kade shoes up looking to investigate on behalf of P-Cap. Sydney is tough as nails and doesn't want Kade to interfere in her investigation, but at the same time she's drawn to the tall dark and deadly vampire. With time running out can these two solve the crime while trying to not loose control professionally and personally.
This is the first one I have listened to and loved it.
Nothing to compare it to. I've listened to samples of books, but this is the first audio book I listened to completely.
This is the first. I am very impressed with Ryan. I love how he "felt" the different characters in his voice and projected that to the listener. He did not just read the words. Love the different voices and accents he used.
Both. I laughed at the bickering between Sydney and Kade and cried at the ritual being performed on Sydney. Listening to the words being read, I felt more emotional than just reading the printed words.
I love this series. I have read all of them and look forward to more audiobooks from Kym. Ryan is fantastic and I will be looking for more of his narrated books.
"Dumb heroine - dragging plot."
You get used to the pattern in this book. Heroine does something incredibly stupid, pisses off handsome vampire. He saves her. He explains that he owns her. She melts. They have sex. Then the cycle starts over. Then there is the narrator who whispers the entire book, which doesn't really make action scenes sound like there's really anything going on. Such a shame - it sounded like it was going to be a really good series, but I'm not going to waste anymore time or credits on this.
"Great story fair performance"
Yes, the story is a really good one and I get more out of audio. It comes to life for me.
When they went in to rescue her and she ended up practically rescuing herself as well as Tristan.
His voice is very relaxing and he varies his voice with the different characters so you know at all times who is speaking.
When she's trying to figure out what to do. She loves Kade and wants to be with him but doesn't want to give up what she is and what she does.
While I love the story, I've read it twice and listened to it once, I did have trouble with the voices the narrator chose. I guess I expected Kade and those that came from New Orleans to have more southern or maybe cajun dialects. Hearing them with high toned British accents kind of threw me. That being said, I did enjoy listening to it and probably will again. I always listen to them more than once just as I read them several times. Love Ms. Grasso's books and this series in particular.
