Houston, Texas. Cowboy boots, baseball and journeys to the stars.... right? Wrong. Because Houston is also home to Jabril Karim, one of the eight powerful Vampire Lords who control all of North America and, as Private Investigator Cynthia Leighton will soon discover, not all Vampire Lords are created equal. Jabril is the face of evil in the new world, a vampire who values no life but his own, who enslaves those he desires, steals whatever he covets, and destroys anyone who stands in his way.
Running from L.A. and its seductive Vampire Lord, Raphael, Cyn sees the Houston job as a welcome refuge, a place to get away and heal her broken heart. But Texas will be no vacation. Cyn will confront a true enemy in Jabril, one who will go to any lengths to satisfy his lusts, enrich his coffers, and expand his power.
Fighting for the lives of two young sisters, Cyn's journey will take her through the streets of Houston and back to L.A., where the human police are determined to bring Raphael down for the murder of one of their own. But the danger doesn't end there.
Jabril has set his sights on Cyn, and he will stop at nothing to have her.

I loved all of the E-book series and now have. all of the audible Books 📚 so far in the series.
want know when the next one in the series is due out.
best book I've listened too
when Cyn realised just how rotten Jabril was and decided to help Mirabel escape.
when Cyn begged Rafael not to kill his sister was very moving
not only a great book makes a good audio but if your narrator isn't up to much everything is let down. The narrator for this book was first class.
"Adventure and suspense with part 2 of Cyn & Raf"
This book picks up where book one left off. Cyn and Raf haven't resolved their feelings or a relationship and Cyn takes the opportunity offered in a case in Texas to get some distance. She quickly realizes the vipers den she's entered into.
What's nice about this series, is that like Cat and Bones (J. Frost), Sookie Stackhouse, Anita Blake and other paranormal female heros, Cyn isn't defined by the male hero, and neither is the story revolving around the romance. In fact, Cyn isn't waiting around for Raphael to stop his dude-denial and calmly moves on with her life. With this particular couple it's more the story of some dangerous cases in book one and book two that Cyn has to resolve (seems compelledf to resolve). Oh, and by the way, in the background there's a hot dude and some combustible chemistry and they have some unresolved things to hash out. This makes for a pleasant change up.
I really enjoyed the strong female hero who doesn't NEED the guy to be complete, but they find their HEA after all the suspense and drama in a more quiet way. I had a couple eye-rolling issues, such as why, if she can communicate mentally with him, doesn't she warn him of the trap he's walking into or communicate other salient and simple things--but those might be freshman author things that will smooth out later. I'd give this a 4.1 rating.
I'm hoping there will be more of the series offered on Audible. I'd spend another credit on the next one willingly. In fact, I'll be buying a couple paperbacks in the meantime. Fans of the series above will likely enjoy this one.
"Another Great Listen"
This book transferred over into audio perfectly. Traci Odom is perfect, I hope she does the whole series
I loved the part when Rapheal and Cyn talked under the trees and he admitted to her that he was wrong and that he was in love with her
Her voice and the change she does for each character, she is not whiny or sharp.
Vampires are truly predators
"Finally an ending"
I gave book one a low rating because of the horrible cliffhanger ending. Thankfully this book ties up all the loose ends from the previous storyline and comes to a satisfying conclusion. It’s unfortunate that this story had to be split into 2 books. I would have rated it higher otherwise.
"Evil never sleeps"
Yes, I would. Lord Jabril is an evil, evil vampire and the story just sucks you in. I like hearing his downfall and not just reading about it.
I liked that there were many layers to the story, it wasn't just about Rafael and Cynthia. The secondary plots were well thought out and engaging.
Just like with the first book, I really like how the secondary characters come to life.
When Rafael finally concedes how he truly feels about Cynthia. Definitely a moment that stands out.
Fast paced, intense and a great cast of characters. Definitely worth a credit.
"Jaw dropping unbelievable!!!"
Jaw dropping unbelievable
I love Raphael and Cyn Kicked ass. I was so glad that them to came back together in the second book I hated how Raphael left Cyn in book one.
With out Spoilers: The scene on the side of the road at night somewhere between Arizona and Texas. Cyn Kicks ass!!!
yes and have many times.
To D.B. Reynolds keep up the GREAT work I cant wait to meet Other Vampire Lords.
Performance and relationship of Cynthia and Raphael
Cynthia is a strong smart but compassionate Character
Great added much to story
When Raphael and Cynthia got back together and also when cynthia saved the two girls
Love this series ! Can't wait for others to come out I Have read them, already but would buy them all if available now
"OVERFLOWING WITH DRAMA & ENDS WITH A ROMANTIC HEA"
This a great conclusion to the romance between the sexy and gorgeous Vampire Lord Raphael and the very independent, smart and kick-ass Heroine Cyn the P.I. that Raphael had employed and walked away from in book 1. (But oh wow he really nailed it with his heartfelt and emotionally honest "I love you" scene).
Sorry, but I'm getting ahead of myself as this story is mainly about the twisted and evil Vampire Lord Jabril who is Cyn's new client and the tense and dangerous situation she finds herself in when she discovers the terrible things he's been doing during his sordid reign. There's gritty nail-biting drama and when she eventually asks for Raphael's help there's a rekindling of their passion, sex, a betrayal and Cyn finds herself in a very tricky life/death situation. There's also a sub-plot as women are being found murdered and drained of their blood and the tension rises as their No. 1 suspect is Raphael.
Worth a credit? This has the makings of a great series as each book packs so much in and delivers a smooth well-written and well-narrated story that's enjoyable, entertaining and, I warn you, very very addictive. So, YES a credit-worthy listen.
"great story continued storyline"
Awesome story. Lots of action. Cyn and Rapheal finally get it together. Cyn established self in the vampire community as a Badass able to hold her own alongside Rapheal
"My favoritest vampire/ human couple of all time."
Here we go again...Raphael and Cyn are in top form, my favoritest vampire/human couple. Well written, well planned out and I simply cannot put not only the written book down but I couldn't lay aside this audio book either. Love, love, love this entire series.
"Evil Vampire Lord vs. Puny Human Woman"
I love this series. This book was an integral to the development of Raphael and Cin's relationship. It also shows that all vampire lords are not out for the greater good of their people. It is a true good vs. evil book.
Raphael's realization regarding Cin - and their relationship.
Her performance was very good. It makes for a great audio.
It was a good audio book, but it wouldn't be easy to listen in one sitting.
