Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood's perfect husband is now Hollywood's sexiest bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Watch out Los Angeles, there's a new bad boy in town.
Summer Jenkins. That's me, a small town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplings, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and was voted Most Friendly my senior year.
We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn't have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him. From the start, I knew he was trouble. For our town. And for me. Sometimes, opposites just aren't meant to attract.

"A MAGNETIC PUSH-PULL TALE WHEN OPPOSITES ATTRACT"
Summer lived with her Mom in small town Quincy where everybody knew everybody..... including everybody's business and, for four years, Summer had been gossiped about and shunned because of something she had rightly, naively and recklessly done to her cheating Fiancé. So, when a gay Movie Scout needed her help with arrangements for a potential blockbuster they were going to film in her town, Summer jumped at the chance to help - and to make a much needed solitary friend. But what she never planned for was the gorgeous, talented and award winning Actor Cole Masten to completely rock her world..... and completely knock her plans for the future way off course.
Cole had his own demons that he was running from and his pampered life was going to be shaken up even more when he comes face to face with the one woman on the planet that didn't obey his ever word, pander to his wishes and worst of all..... didn't lust after him. Huh, not that he wanted to have sex with her either.... oh no - because she was hard-headed, opinionated and stubborn as Hell and every time they met they clashed, verbally sparred and the sexual tension climbed up another degree or three..... however she would make the perfect feisty Leading Lady in his upcoming film. But what he never planned for was that the frustrating, annoying and naive woman who would completely rock his world too..... because Summer had a heart of gold, was loving, generous and kind (well to everyone except him) and opened his eyes to real life..... and real love.
A very enjoyable listen as these two likeable characters challenged, fought, insulted and lobbed weighted banter like granades designed to destroy but underneath it all was mutual attraction, hopeless desire and sizzling chemistry that was, despite efforts to snuff it out, about to ignite and burn. The book was heavy on their backgrounds and they didn't actually meet until Chapter 26 but when they did the gloves were put on long before the clothes came off. It was fun, sweet, sexy, angst-ridden and entertaining to watch these two battle each other, battle their desires and finally give in to the heady attraction for each other that ended up totally consuming them both. Dual POV's, a Cockrel made for some amusing scenes and a narrator who's character's voices were all fine but, IMO, I didn't particularly like her Hero's voice (which wasn't sexy, male or Alpha enough for me). There also seemed to be a lot of quick Chapters.
Worth a credit? If you're after an easy, light and heartwarming journey of 'enemies to frenemies to friends to lovers' Contemporary romance then you've just found it. And yes, it's totally creditworthy too.
"Best Listen This Year!!!!!"
loved this book!!!! APretty Woman type of love story. character developement was phenomenal. by the time the two met you really understood what their lives were really like. And wow does the fireworks fly (Southern Style)when these two finally meet face to face. I loved the heroine's sharp wit , southern charm, and take no s*** attitude. Absolutely refreshing for the girl to make the hero work for every inch of her respect. The narrator was brilliant in her delivery. kept great pace and her accent was spot on. she was perfect for this book. Absolutely credit worthy or dare I say , Buy it outright. definitely worth every cent. I listened straight thru, couldn't put it down. Truly the best book I've had the privilage to listen to in a long time. Will definitely be keeping a lookout for more from this author!
"Just the book I was needing!"
This was hands down one of my absolute favorite books this year! Perfectly written and perfectly narrated with true southern charm. After reading reviews about to much description throughout the story I would most defiantly have to disagree, just enough to make every second enjoyable!
"Boring and predictable!"
I feel like this type of book (story line) has been written 1000 times! Broken man meets broken woman and within a day they fall madly in love and are soul mates! I understand that these steamy reads aren't realistic, but seriously the adult content in this book is borderline hilarious it's so far fetched! More vulgar than a love story. I'm only giving it a rating of a 2 because there was one very short funny scene towards the end.
"Wish it Were a Movie Read"
i love reading Allessandra Torre's novels. they always have some emotional undertones. her characters have depth and struggles in life, then find out they love someone who they least expected. they always have this sexual tension and refuse to accept reality, then after hurting each other somehow figure out they were wrong and have to apologize.
she does this storyline well with different plots and keep u coming back for more.
i can't wait to read another one.
Wonderful romance with the perfect balance of humor, love, and sex. Great storyline without the annoying overly done drama that so many romance novels posess!
"Alessandra Torre does it again!"
I loved this story - I have recommended it to multiple friends!
I don't know that I could pick one memorable moment...I just loved the whole thing.
Summer. She did such a good job!
Hollywood meets Southern Charm...
"I'd listen to the narrator read the dictionary."
Hollywood Dirt is a contemporary romantic standalone. It is told from the POV of Cole Masten and Summer Jenkins.
Here is the thing: I just finished an amazing book that has left a huge hangover. It was perfect in every way for me. I’m still obsessed with it. I’m thinking that might be affecting how I feel about Hollywood Dirt. I usually love hate to love attraction books.
While reading the book, I switched to Audio. I am glad I did. The narrator did an incredible job. I loved her Southern drawl. I'd listen to her read the dictionary.
I like Summer Jenkins. She is smart and sassy. She says what is on her mind and seizes an opportunity when she can. There many times during this book when she does the exact opposite of what her character had been doing. She becomes meek and wounded. I get that she was hurt 3 years ago and doesn’t trust easily. I understand that she is lonely. It left me wanting to shake her.
Cole Masten made me want to vomit at times. The way he manipulated Summer and the movie script to draw out her hate/attraction to him made me really not like him. He does have his moments. They are usually with his Rooster and when he is thinking by himself.
The end was the bright spot in the whole book for me: the truce. Granted it revolved around sex, but those fun moments I think they got to see who they really are without the pretense of the movie and movie star/country chick. It was two people just having fun. The book has plenty of sexy time with dirty talk, which is not a problem for me.
While I can’t say I 100% liked the book, it was better than okay. I think it might have to do with my book hangover I am still dealing with.
"A little bit of a let down from this author"
I wouldn't say it was a waste of credit, but I won't be re-listening to it.
It wasn't a horrible book, but I just like so many of her prior books- this one just didn't measure up for me.
When we finally here the big secret of her past, which was actually one of the drawbacks of the book for me though. I'm used to great twists with some build up in her books. This whole story was built up to the big secret- which was a good tale, but not the huge shock that the author built up to through the whole book.
I guess, but they would need some good screenwriters and hot actors to play up some of the other smaller storylines than just the "big secret".
Sorry for being a little wishy-washy on this review. I did not love this book, but I think it's my comparison to her other books that I have loved that is clouding my judgement on this one. I just expect more when I read a book from this author. If it was an unknown author to me, I probably would've given it 4 stars instead of 3.
"Want a fun story!"
Alessandra Torre is new to me so I had no idea what to expect from her writing. Suffice it to say, I'll be seeking her out on purpose from here on out! Great story and fabulous narrator (sweet southern voice!). I laughed so hard at the rehearsal dinner story I thought I'd have to pull my car over. Yep, my kind of revenge indeed.
