Publisher's Summary

The true stone of Destiny remains hidden, but now comes a new battle to determine who will hold the sword of kings.

Defying the wishes of her laird and brother, Lael of the dun Scoti takes up her sword to fight beside the MacKinnons to return Keppenach to its rightful heir--to Broc Ceannfhionn. She'll risk everything to keep the stronghold out of the hands of King Henry's Butcher, including her life.

They call him The Butcher, but not even Henry's henchman would hang a woman. Riding into the gates on winged fury, Jaime cuts the raven-haired beauty down from the gallows only to find himself a willing prisoner of her heart. In the end, only a bond of love between bitter enemies can bring healing to broken nations.

    "Story good."

Narrator was good except he made my ears hurt. I had to constantly adjust the volume. His volume increased at the exciting parts. I found this annoying.

"Great Story - even BETTER to listen to!!"
If you could sum up Highland Steel (Guardians of the Stone Book 2) in three words, what would they be?

    Captivating. Exasperating. Satisfying.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Highland Steel (Guardians of the Stone Book 2)?

One of the most memorable moments was when Lael challenged Jamie at Blades. She thought he could not beat her at throwing the axe, but he did!

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Lael rode at the head of her family and 500 men to confront Jamie at Keppenach and retrieve Broc, Jamie rode out to meet them with only four men. When she declared her purpose, he took King David's words to heart and decided that in becoming a Scot once again, he could ensure peace, and so declared peace for all to hear. He then asked Lael to return to him his wife (Lael), which stunned her and inevitably won her over.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! I could listen to James Gillies for days!!

    Any additional comments?

Mr. Gillies has a beautiful reading voice and differentiates between characters and gender very well. I love listening to his Scottish brogue, though he also does a great job with the British accent. His reading of the Gaelic words gave me shivers!!

    Story
"Even better than the first book in the series!"
    Any additional comments?

I expected to hate Lael as she was sooo shrewish in Highland Fire. However, she turned out to be a great heroine. I admit I wanted to give her a few shakes here and there but she was really a well developed heroine who grew and grew throughout the book. Jamie, the hero was awesome and steady (what is it about those Jamie's? I am also obsessed with Jamie Fraser from the Outlander series). He was a good guy! So chivalrous, romantic, compassionate and a warrior all in one. All I have to say is "How and where can I get me one????"

5+++++ stars for the story and narration.

    "JUST OKAY FOR ME"

I don't know if it was the narrator or me but, I was very confused throughout this entire book. There were way too many characters to follow ...with names that were similar. With several of the characters, their story never went anywhere. After awhile, it was just somebody talking in my head with no meaning at all. It was like the grown ups talking in the Peanuts cartoons..lol. I would love to listen to another of these books...dumbed down a little. You know what the saying is....Keep it simple stupid! lol.
