In HeartMate, Robin D. Owens swept us away to the planet Celta, where psychic talents are the key to life - and love. Midwest Book Review predicted that listeners "will want Ms. Owens to return to Celta for more tales." And the prophesy has come true - with Heart Thief....
Ruis Elder never asked for his unusual trait - the ability to neutralize others' psychic talents. Because of it, he has always been hated in his own homeland, destined to roam the harsh planet alone. But trouble finds him in front of the ruling Council - and face-to-face with the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. There's only one problem: Ailim is on the opposite side of the bench....
Ailim has never before felt such passion coursing through her as she feels in Ruis' presence. And she never thought she would - at least not with a man so far beneath her station, a man who does not even have psychic powers. But even on the planet Celta, love is blind to such details. Separately, Ailim and Ruis must forgo their old lives. But together, they can take on the world....

"Can't wait for the rest of the series!"
Yes! The narrator captures the different voices perfectly! Ruis is very cultivated, T'Ash is very abrupt, Samba is very playful and Zanth is annoying.
"Love, love, love this series of books!"
Yes, such a good read or listen.
Really good performance.
Can't wait to get the next book!
"Much better narration than Heart Mate"
Yes. This is a much beloved series and am looking forward to the next in the series.
Heart Mate, because it is the first in the series
I sincerely hope they release all the books in the series
"Yea for Robin D Owens"
So glad Robin's books are finally on audio. Love ALL her writings. The narration is good but would be just that much better with a male and female narrating
"The story is fantastic"
No, unfortunately. The print version (kindle version) was more enjoyable but only because of the readers creation of odd accents.
SPOILER ALERT:When the ship showed its affection for Ruis.
I think the narrator could have read the story and still kept it interesting and have the different characters recognizable without giving each of them a separate accent.
II really enjoy everything I have read by Robin D. Owens. I like that her characters are not perfect. They have struggles, they make mistakes, and often learn from their mistakes and grow as people even when they are no longer the main characters. I love the fams (family pets who can talk and more). I enjoy a science fiction/fantasy story. The reader has a nice voice and is listenable. However, I found it distracting that he changed accents for most of the characters. He read it so that family members in the same household and people in the same city of the same station and class spoke with different accents from each other. Yes, it is possible for people in a family to speak with different accents. However it is less likely that every family would have a different accent. That being said I enjoyed the story enough that I will listen again despite the odd accents. hope to see a lot more by Robin D. Owens at audible.
