Sienna Diaz is everyone's favorite "fat" funny lady. The movie studio executives can't explain it, but her films are out-grossing all the fit and trim headliners and Hollywood's most beautiful elite. The simple truth is, everyone loves plus-sized Sienna.
But she has a problem: she can't read maps and her sense of direction is almost as bad as her comedic timing is stellar. Therefore, when Sienna's latest starring role takes her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, she finds herself continually lost while trying to navigate the back roads of Green Valley, Tennessee. Much to her consternation, Sienna's most frequent savior is a ridiculously handsome, charming, and cheeky park ranger by the name of Jethro Winston.
Sienna is accustomed to high levels of man-handsome, so it's not Jethro's chiseled features or his perfect physique that make Sienna stutter. It's his southern charm. And gentlemanly manners. And habit of looking at her too long and too often.
Sienna has successfully navigated the labyrinth of Hollywood heartthrobs. But can she traverse the tenuous trails of Tennessee without losing her head? Or worse, her heart?

What a fabulous story and the narrators...oh my, I honestly didn't think I can love this book more but I was wrong. Thank you Penny, Cielo and Chris for an unforgettable experience xx
I knew before I finished the first chapter that this book was going to be a full give star read for me. It drew me in hook, line and sinker. I'm a huge Penny Reid fan and loved Truth or Beard, this series is becoming a firm favourite for me, I just love those Winston Brothers. Jethro is truly adorable, a true gentlemen, and he's a Park Ranger "insert googley eyes". We get to read about all the interactions between this odd family that had me laughing out loud to myself. I so can't wait for book 3. Sienna Diaz is a famous Hollywood actress and writer, lost en route to her house rental while on set making a movie. Jethro's rescues her (with absolutely no idea of who she is), and Jethro's and Sienna build a friendship, even though Sienna allows him to think she is someone else for a whole week. The book is beautifully written, and so funny, all the characters are charming, and the chemistry and banter between Sienna and Jethro is 5⭐️
"It's all about the Winston Brothers"
After reading Truth or Beard I knew three things: I loved the Winston family and I ADORED Cletus. (Yes, I am well aware that Cletus is a Winston, but he deserves his own shout out.) and I’d definitely be picking up the next book in the series regardless of who it was about (Cletus would have been preferred, but one must go with the flow). But due to everything getting in the way reading the book wasn’t a viable option, so if I wanted to read the book this century I’d have to go the audiobook route and I loved being back in the Winston family world and the narrators did a fabulous job, but I had issues with the MC’s, well one of them, and it wasn’t that I didn’t like them, I just didn’t love them both equally.
Jethro and Sienna: 3 Stars
Jethro I loved. He’s turned his entire life around and is putting his money where his mouth is. He is showing everyone around him that he was no longer the asshat, selfish, car stealing biker and instead is an upstanding member of the community and someone they could all rely upon when needed, especially his family. One of the things that made me melt for him was that he didn’t expect anyone to forgive him, he wanted it ~ badly, but he knew that it would take time and that some would never forgive him his trespasses and he was okay with that. I loved his flirty side and how he took the time to make decisions, good or bad. Though as tends to happen, he was quite clueless about somethings.
Sienna. I liked her. I did. I loved that she loved herself. She was comfortable in her own skin and yet didn’t go out of her way to shove it in everyone’s face. She is who she is and you can either accept it or not. She can only be herself. But as much as I loved her confidence I never really warmed up to her like I thought I would. I think what got me was that while she had a strong personality she tended to take the “let’s keep the peace” route when it came to what really should have mattered the most, like the direction she really wanted her career to go and when her jack ass of an ex would come around. Now, in my group of friends I’m label the voice of reason because I too like to keep things running smoothly, but each time Sienna back down and kept silent, even if she didn’t agree with what was going on, it made me want to hit something. Does she finally stick up for herself in the end? Yes, but even then it didn’t make me want to high five the girl.
When it comes to the whole celebrity falls for the non celebrity story you know there will be quite a few bumps in the road and Jethro and Sienna’s story was filled with them, many because they jumped to conclusions instead of communicating (Thank GOD for Cletus), but there were some really sweet and some really funny moments and the sexual tension between them was pretty damn hot. But while I think that they make a great couple and can see them evolving into something great together, I felt as if something was missing. It’s one of those intangible gut feeling sort of things, so pinpointing it is not going to happen, but it is what it is and I still enjoyed their journey.
Cletus and the rest of the Winston clan: .5 Stars
Yes I’m giving them their own little rating because they all deserve it. Cletus is still the one I adore the most, and how can I now when he makes statements like this: “Put your best fuck forward” but being a sucker for well written secondary characters and ensemble casts, I loved spending time with all of them. They feel like a family and all the good, the bad and the ugly that comes with it (Thankfully there is much more good than anything else) and I really want to be invited to dinner one night, especially on sausage nights *BSEG*. And of the brothers Billy is now the one I’m really curious about and can’t wait to find out more about his whole situation.
The Narrators: 5 Stars
This was my first experience with Chris Brinkley & Cielo Camargo as narrators and I really enjoyed them. I liked the tone and cadence of their voices and how they were able to give each character a different feel so that I at least at a clue as to who else was apart of the scene, if not knew outright who was talking. They both did the voices of the opposite sex well, there is always a bit of time needed to get used to it, but they worked for me.
My one main issue with the story came towards the end when Sienna drops a huge bomb and for whatever reason she, and the rest of team, believed that the information wasn’t already out there in Social Media land and none of them, not even Marta ~ which was a huge surprise, bothered to check and see. There were “reasons” given, but in this day and age just because one person may have the “exclusive” doesn’t mean anything, especially when that exclusive was done in an outdoor premier setting with a lot of people with smartphones milling around.
Overall I enjoyed Grin and Beard It. The writing was engaging and I loved the quotes that were used at the start of each chapter and had fun trying to figure out how they applied to what was going to happen. And yes, I am counting the days until the next book, Beard Science, is released because it’s all about Cletus!!
Fantastic book! Funny, romantic, sweet with the perfect amount of heat! The narrators were absolutely perfect!
"Great book, great narrators!"
I love Penny Reid's books, and the narrators exceeded my expectations in bringing the charactera in this book to life!
"Love the Winston brothers!"
I just love the Winston brothers. These good ol' country boys paired with the beautiful Tennessee setting really makes me homesick. (Hopefully my mother doesn't read this. It's been a few years since she told me I need to move home, and we don't want to start that again!)
Anywho, our featured country boy in this story is Jethro Winston, eldest of the Winston clan. As you may remember from Truth or Beard, Jethro was the troublemaker of the group. Or, at least he was in his youth. Now Jethro is all grown up and a responsible adult. He is a family man, trying to take care of all the Winston clan and restore the family homestead to its original splendor. He is also watching over Ben's wife, after Ben was killed in Afghanistan. In short, Jethro is now a good guy carrying around an extreme amount of guilt over his past. I just loved him to pieces. I loved that Jethro was such a cute and charming flirt, and hated that he was punishing himself so severely for his misspent youth. Jethro was everything good and right about a good ol' boy from Tennessee. (Another reason to be homesick!) Chris Brinkley did a great job performing Jethro's character... he has a great deep southern voice/accent. I'm not sure if that's authentic or an affectation, but it worked perfectly in this role.
Sienna Diaz wasn't quite what I was expecting in a heroine. Both her written character and Cielo Camargo's performance were reminiscent of Anna Faris. As an uber-famous movie star, Sienna was quite self-deprecating and humble... and a little bit of a kook! I liked that she was so funny... and I could totally relate to some of her zany behavior. I also have a penchant for saying random things, so I understood how her mind worked. I liked that Sienna was a feminist without being over-the-top and in-your-face with it, and she was more concerned with inspiring other Latina girls than her own fame and fortune. I do wish that she had stood up more to Marta and Tom, both of whom I hated. But overall she was a good heroine.
The relationship between Jethro and Sienna was not instalove... it was a bit of one step forward and three steps back for the first part of the book. Neither Jethro or Sienna have dated too seriously in the past, so they each had to figure out what they wanted. Then, of course, there are repercussions to dating Hollywood's sweetheart. Sienna must come to terms with asking Jethro to give up his privacy, and Jethro must accept that his rowdy past could have an impact on Sienna's career. So this couple definitely had issues to work through, and I was happy to see them do that together.
I also loved the help that Sienna and Jethro got from outside parties... namely Cletus. Cletus is still one of my favorite characters and I absolutely cannot wait for his book, Beard Science, to be released. I am also now interested to see what is going on between Billy and Claire, and I expect a drama-filled second chance romance out of those two.
This is only my second time reading Penny Reid, but I definitely have to go back and read her other books now. I'm a fan!
"Another Great Listen From Penny Reid"
Penny is persinally involved in selecting the voice actors for her audiobooks and it really shows. If I had the decipline I'd wait for the audiobook version as my first experience of new books as the voices become how I hear the characters there after. It adds a lot as being from Canada these arn't accents I am familiar with.
"Love this book!!"
This is a wonderful romance story!! Jethro and Sienna are delightful characters that I dare you not to fall in love with. Their story feels real. The pacing is slower, not an immediate love at first sight story.
The narration is also GREAT! Chris does an amazing job of being Jethro, and the other Winston brothers as well. Cielo is a perfect Sienna, making me laugh out loud with her phrases and accents.
This is one of my favorite books to read, and now it's one of my favorite to listen to!
Female narrator was not great. Male narrator is good with men's voices, but not with women's voices...
I love the concept of the Winston Brothers series, but this book bores me and wasn't written well. Sorta seemed like Penny was in a hurry to finish...
"The Thinking Man's Crumpet...."
Penny Reid is an author completely on her own. She breaks a lot of the rules of CR. Her stories are both surprising and intelligent. You feel smarter after you've read a book written by Penny Reid.
"Worth the Wait"
This series just keeps getting better! The voices were amazing and the performers totally did justice to a heartfelt ,amazingly funny, bittersweet ,beautiful story of family, love, and redemption. Made me laugh out loud as well as cry. I cannot wait for October and book three.
"5 million stars!!"
I smiled throughout this read. So charmed by Jethro and loved feisty Sienna. Perfect narration for all the characters especially Cletus. Can't wait for the next book.
