Second grade teacher Mia Delaney isn't looking for love. In fact, she isn't looking for anything at all because life hasn't been fair. Everything - the idea of love, her hopes and dreams - was ripped away in a single night.
Arrogant yet sexy Adam Lawson makes the move to a small town in an attempt to escape life in the city. Here he hopes to provide a fresh start for those he loves and protects with a vow to never let anyone get close enough to hurt them again.
A chance encounter with Miss Delaney begins a relentless pursuit that has Adam breaking his own rules when he makes an offer she simply can't refuse. Despite her internal struggles, Mia knows there's no denying the attraction between them.
But when acquaintances become friends and friends become enemies, Adam's need to protect those around him becomes even more crucial. Will the tangled web of lies and betrayal combined with past insecurities become too much for them to handle?

Absolutely loved this book! The characters are amazing and you will fall in love with Mia & Adam! Can't wait to find out the rest of their story! Mia is a very strong woman to have dealt with all that she has; how much heartbreak can one person survive?! This is an amazing story and you will feel the emotions..... what a ride!
Tracy is a narrator whose work I have enjoyed in the past.
She has a great way of narrating different characters, accents, emotions etc.
Mia and Adam had their ups and downs in the book and you felt it mainly thanks for Tracy's narration.
Tracy's narration added to my enjoyment of the book.
It features Mia who is strong and independent.
I liked the fact she wasn't the timid schoolteacher. She has strength.
The best parts of the book were listening to Mia and Adam talk, and her leaving Adam baffled at her not falling at his feet.
Another thing I loved about her was the fact she enjoyed a healthy sex life.
I admired LM Carr for writing a strong heroine in the genre, who doesn't get to experience good sex only with the hero.
We need more heroines who enjoy life to the fullest before, during and after meeting their partner.
A very enjoyable book.
"Characters 3.75, Story 4, Narration 5 stars!"
This is a really hard book for me to review because I loved the story line, I only loved the characters (sometimes) and I more than loved the narration.... But, yes there is a but.... about 1/3 of this book I wanted to stop listening because I felt like Mia was so clueless!!! I mean she spent a large part of this book being so naive that it made me crazy! For a smart girl she sure was dumb, but only during some parts of the book, at other times I loved her character!
Here is an example of what she was like during the clue less parts....I keep seeing this car everywhere I go, gee I wonder who it is, I feel like someone is watching, huh that's weird, oh the window is open in the middle of the night after my dog woke me up barking at the back door, wow must have left it open!
I understood in the beginning but after SO many different things you would think she would catch on! Besides that though, the other 2/3 of the book I loved her! She was sweet, fun and she teaches 2nd graders what's not to love? Then there is Adam, He is a sexy single dad....Nope I don't even need to say more :) In the end I gave this book 4 stars because I loved it most of the time! I'm hoping book 2 leaves out the naivete and It'll probably be a 5 star for me!
TRACY MARKS IS A ROCK STAR!!! I love her narration, every thing about it works for me!
"What a Surprise!"
I review books for Audiobook Boom and this was one I had requested to review in exchange for my honest review...
BUT PEOPLE!! I was so pleasantly surprised, this is one of the best audiobooks I have listened to. The narration is great, Tracy Marks managed to keep me completely engrossed throughout the entire book and was able to portray all the characters, including children, in a very legitimate way.
Although I don't like to spoil plots, I will say that this book has everything I look for in an audiobook that I will listen to again and again. There was mystery, suspense, romance, sweetness, animals!, steamy hot sex and the perfect amount of angst.
I can't recommend this one more and although I was offered the second book in exchange for review, I'm turning that offer down because this series is credit worthy and I want to give the author credit for book 2.
Stop reading and do download!
I loved Mia and her interaction with her friends. I loved Adams kids. But the relationship and interaction between Mia and Adam was a bit strange to me, and yet I kept listening. No matter how hot Adam may have looked he was just too creepy for me, and later weepy. And, Mia would have these, what I thought were normal reactions to his weird, stalker behavior, but then just immediately act or suddenly feel different about it with no real explanation...and yet I continued to listen, sometimes in confused or horrified fascination. And, then at times it just seemed like the story went off on a tangent.
All that said, I can't say it's not worth a read. And, I completely understand the reviews of those people that did really enjoy the book a lot. I think this one will just depend on each individual readers preferences. I listened to the book and can't say I didn't enjoy it. It was just a bit weird for me.
I received this audiobook as an ARC for an honest review.
I loved the drama, the love story and the characters. The cliffhanger made me want more!
"Giving into .great!!"
Obvious from the description that love will be had but how LM Carrs' character development progressed, was thoroughly enjoyed.
Tracy Marks is a new narrator( for me) that I'll be keeping a listen out for. She kept me interested and entertained. I loved the use of descriptives that were clean and too the point. Not over narrated and great use of vocabulary.
I've listened to many books and back in the day when I had time to read also, and for many of them, a thesaurus is in definate need but not here.
Looking forward to the next book
"Mia is Annoying"
I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review. By the time i got half way through the book I was totally annoyed with Mia. Yes you were hurt but then you decide to go out with the guy again and the only explanation is that he was drunk and could not help himself. Mia also is a second grade school teach but drinks like a fish and seems to go to work a lot hung over. No way a cup of coffee will sober you up enough to teach my kids. Then the relationship she has with Adam is crazy. She always gives him a hard time because she is attracted to him yet the guy who hurt her she goes out and has a wonderful evening with. Strange indeed. I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review. The narrator actually nailed Mia's character and made her truly annoying . She did a good job with the rest also. She helped make the story.
"I'm Hooked on this Trilogy!"
Love this story. It has all the story elements that extract a variety of emotions. I can't wait to find what happens next. I just hope I don't have to wait long between books 2 &3.
The narrator Tracy Marks is terrific! Be sure check her narration of other works too.
This audiobook was gifted for free on behalf of the author in exchange for an honest review.
"I couldn't put it down..."
This book was given to me by the author in exchange for my unbiased review through Audiobook Boom.
Mia's been through horribly emotional betrayal and loss. Because of it she is distrustful. Not to mention, the catalyst to her pain flaunts the betrayal in her face with malicious intent. In comes Adam... He's beautiful and Relentless.... Yup. Worth the listen. I'm mad at the ending.. Can't wait to listen to the next one!
