From the "must-read author" (Romance Junkies) of Letting Go - the new novel in her Surrender Trilogy.
In her sensational Breathless Trilogy, New York Times best-selling author Maya Banks tested the boundaries of desire. In her new trilogy, there's only one thing left to do: cross them. Now, the story continues as one woman, haunted by the shadows of the past, explores the possibilities of a new beginning in ways she never could have imagined....
Kylie sees the way Jensen looks at her. The dark promise in his eyes. That rough edge of dominance she knows he possesses. But dominance is the one thing that frightens her above all else. She and her brother barely survived a childhood steeped in violence and abuse. She could never give up total control and submit to a man. Especially a man like Jensen. Could she?
Jensen sees the shadows in Kylie's eyes. Knows he has to tread very carefully or risk losing any chance he has with her. All he wants is the opportunity to show her that dominance doesn't equal pain, bondage, or discipline. That emotional surrender is the most powerful of all, and that to submit fully to him will fulfill the aching void in her heart in a way nothing else ever will.

YES I WOULD I LOVE THE STORY
AGAIN I THINK THE GIRLS ARE GREAT
I HAVE THIS WHOLE SERIES SO I WOULD SAY IT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF
YES I READ IT OF AND ON ALL DAY AND EVENING
"The Narrator ruined it for me"
The story itself is okay, I wish I had actually read this one instead of listening to it. It isn't my favorite Maya Banks, The characters are TOO damaged to let the story really heat up.
The real deal breaker though was the narration. Kylie is sooooo whiney I spent a good deal of time gritting my teeth thru her portions, And her man's tones, sounds a little like......well.....Forrest Gump. My internal loop kept playing "Run Forrest Run" and Stewie's "Mom Mom Mom Mommy Mommy Mommy." which made it a little tough to get into the parts that actually were hot.
"Great story, horrible narration."
I would change the narration, it was absolutely horrible. The male voice was hideous. female sounded like a 12 year old.
I liked the whole story. Very romantic and touching.
The male voice was so unnatural and weird sounding it was like listening to an alien with a fake southern accent. The female voice I could half way deal with.
The male voice sucked all the romance out of the book. The story would have been much more romantic and sexy with a different male voice. Giving the narration one star was generous.
This was an okay book easy storyline to follow
the narrator voice change threw me off a bit , took some getting used too.
I liked the development of the characters as well .
"Gave In, terrific"
I was not as pleased with the1st book in this series, but #2 was fantastic!
this book was great....still could have a better narrator....the more I listen the easier it gets....but all in all good book in the series
"Reader is the problem"
Listened to this book in spite of the reader. Her accent doesn't bother me--it's the nasal tones that are painful. Love Maya Banks--
"Surrender Trilogy: Book Two Kylie & Jenson"
The second in the Surrender trilogy we meet Kylie. She has a violent and abusive past and wants nothing to do with dominance and control. Jensen is the man used to being in control, he enjoys going up to the boundary and crossing it however, he is willing to give it all up for Kylie.
As some of the other reviewers have pointed out the story was okay – I think okay because it was salvaged by the friendship of the women in the book. But overall, I was not a fan of this installment.
Of course, this is fiction and written to go over the edge but there has to be a bit of believability in it, for me. The heroine was somewhat believable but the hero was terribly disappointing… Readily giving up his core self for the love of this woman.
I am pretty forgiving with narrators but Alix Dale was off the charts awful as she performed the male characters. I didn't know what sort of accent Dale was trying to achieve for any of the male characters it was distracting and really bad.
I suggest that Maya Banks, or agent, listens to the audition tapes more carefully before selecting her next narrator. Carolyn Winter, Adam Paul, Freddy Bates or Christian Fox – – all narrators of her other books.
I highly recommend reading this series over listening to it. Or wait for a re-release with a different narrator.

Story line was a lot more romance, very little BDSM . Parts of it was erotic, other parts blah blah blah, the narration was awful!!! Her whiny nasal voice was almost too much. So sorry she read this series.
"Such a awful listen...."
No One I Know.
When I got the first book, I got the entire trilogy. What a waste. It's as bad as the first one. I wish I could attach my review from book one onto this review. Very disappointed in Mrs. Banks with this trilogy. All of her other books that I've read (KGI, Pregnancy series, both Highlander Series) have been out of sight. DO NOT WASTE YOUR CREDIT ON THIS OR THE OTHER BOOKS IN THE TRILOGY.
It's nothing like Brethless or Coulters, not even close to being good.
Kristen Potter off the top of my head. Rosalyn Landor does a good American accent, Julia Gibson perhaps would've been better than Alix Dale.
The Entire Book
DON'T WASTE YOUR CREDIT OR MONEY ON THIS BOOK.
Most definitely! It's wonderful love story. Not about thes ex.
The moment Kylie realized she was in love
When Kyle fought for Jensen
When Jensen and Kylie broke up.
I Am a big fan of Maya Banks. I absolutely loved this book. Kylie and Jensen both deal with demons that can destroy them. I was surprised by the way this book gripped me and made me laugh, sigh and cry. This is a beautiful story and if someone is not into the heavy romance with all thes ex scenes then this is a book for you. To me it was worth the time and money. We'll done Maya!
