What the Critics Say

"Jeffrey Archer has a gift for plot that can only be described as genius." (Daily Telegraph)
"Political intrigue permeates this best-selling novel about four very different men who, after entering British politics in the '60s, spend the next 30 years vying for power until one reaches the pinnacle as prime minister. That the author, a British lord, is himself a politico lends the machinations authenticity....Martin Jarvis...vividly portrays the dramatis personae. (AudioFile)

    "A well constructed story"

His latest book 'Prisoner of Birth' revealed to me Jeffrey Archer's skill as a story-teller and I wasn't disappointed by this earlier publication. It's not as engrossing a tale, and is much shorter, but the author keeps ones attention throughout with the manchinations of politicians about which the author obviously has inside knowledge.
