Publisher's Summary

Firefighter paramedic Mallory "Ice" James commands a crew of smokejumpers - twenty women and men who eat together, sleep together, and parachute into the face of raging forest fires together - and she has thirty days to whip the rookies into shape. Discipline and teamwork mean the difference between life and death on the line, and she's earned her reputation as cool and controlled in the face of danger.

Mallory isn't happy when "Hotshot" Jac Russo shows up unannounced for boot camp along with a reputation for being trouble. Jac is none too pleased about her cold reception, even if the new boss is drop-dead gorgeous and hotter than the blazes they're supposed to be dousing. Mallory and Jac may not like each other much, but lust isn't something either can control - and they soon discover ice burns as fiercely as flame.

I love audio books and listening to them while I draw or paint. They help to level me and take away the stress while drawing.

    Story
    "traditional romance"

This is a very typical romance between to woman, both with conflicts to overcome. Iiked this story a lot as it fits the telling I like. I does not include a lot of drama, other then the internal conflicts of the characters, which I like. I loved the strong personalities of the two main female characters, and the romantic resolution. Im not one for erotica persay and prefer novels where this is limited and happens as part of the story line. This one fits the bill. It does not sound like a Radclyffe work as the narrator Stella approaches it differently, with a lot of excitement, She is a good narrator but can be over the top at times, I thought I might dislike the style but in the end it was an change and I enjoyed her narrations. One of the few stories I would listen to again.

    "Good characters, meh story"

The characters had potential. Was a little too harlequin romance and cheesy for me. And the narration matched it. Seemed they had more depth than the dialogue they were given.

    Story
"Inane, histronic and largely lacking in plot"
Would you try another book from Radclyffe and/or Stella Bloom?

I have read most of Radclyffe's books and the Justice and Honor series are a wonderful mix of suspenseful plot and romance etc. But this one is inane, with the plot secondary to the attraction between the two main protagonists. The character development is shallow and implausible and the breathless narration helps little. A potentially great setting that Radclyffe failed to exploit in this one.

Has Firestorm turned you off from other books in this genre?

    Probably.

    "One of my favorites"

I laughed ... I got frustrated ... I was on edge. I wish there was a follow up book about Jack and Mallory, I couldn't stop listening. I've owned the book for some time but haven't had a chance to read it. I just started using Audible and thought why not get the audio upgrade. Was definitely worth the perches.

"Another great story in the Providence series."

The narrator really makes this series. You can't help but love all of the characters.

    "Stella Bloom - no thanks"

The narration was horrible. I so often wanted her to calm down. She out drama in places that didn't need it. Her tone was less than attractive.
The story was classic Radclyffe! Always good to be taken away to the depths of Lesbian love when you need it. I can always count on Radclyffe to do that.
