Publisher's Summary

Every fighter is drawn to the violence, the release that a perfect hit can bring.

But very few are drawn to the pain.

Rex Carter lives behind a wall of indifference. The demons from his childhood act as an anesthetic, keeping him distant from emotional connections. Only the ache from a knock to the jaw, the sting of a tattoo needle, or the heat from a piercing can jolt him back from the numbness. The fiery pain is all he can feel, and nothing compares to the burn.

Or so he thought.

Working in a Las Vegas bar isn't Georgia McIntyre's dream. But she hopes it'll be an end to the nightmare.

She's watched him, followed him and kept tabs, all in preparation for this moment: to make amends and share the secret she's been carrying since she was a kid. But she didn't count on the feelings that seeing him again would stir up, the vacant look in his stormy-blue eyes, and his perfect body now mutilated by ink and metal.

And she knows why. She's lived his pain every single day, since the day he left.

Changed by time, Rex doesn't remember the girl from his past. If only she could do the same.

Will she get the absolution she's spent her life seeking?

Or will he continue Fighting to Forget?

    Story
"PREPARE TO BE SHREDDED TO PIECES"

I've listened to many stories about overcoming adversity. Now, Fighting to Forget is one of my favorites. I should note, it was not without its extremely tough/dark moments where I wasn't sure I could stay focused on the bigger picture. Rating and reviewing this one is a tough call because it triggers so many different emotions, and like any book centered around a particular trauma that causes physical and emotional scars, it may not be for every reader/listener, but its worth giving it a try. I love JB Salsbury's style of writing, and it was beautifully written. Furthermore, with two great narrators, they truly brought these characters and the story to life in bold, vivid color! Passionate, is an understatement in terms of the narration.

The journey for both Rex and Georgia Mac to find peace, acceptance, love, you name it, was heart-wrenching and wonderful. I loved it.

"Gritty....not for the faint of heart"
Where does Fighting to Forget rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I like the series but I have to say this is one of the most difficult books to listen to. Even though its a good book the topic of child molestation is a difficult one for me to wrap my mind around.

If you’ve listened to books by JB Salsbury before, how does this one compare?

This is the third book in the series and by far the most gritty and hard to get through. The topic of child molestation is never easy to hear about ... and its a theme that is at the forefront even to the end of this book.

Have you listened to any of Erin Mallon and Ryan West ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

They were awesome performers. They made the book easier to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The prologue. Without giving away a spoiler .... it was very moving the bond the two main characters formed.

    Any additional comments?

If you have read the first two books in the series, this one is tied in with the main characters from those books. It is a stand alone so its not necessary to have read them but I recommend those books highly. This is not my favorite book in the series and I most likely would not have finished it had it not been for the first two books. This is book does have a light at the end of the tunnel but its an emotional journey getting there. The subject matter and abuse they characters suffered is why I did not give the story itself a higher rating. If you don't mind gritty, child abuse, flawed characters in the aftermath ... you would enjoy this book. It is worth a credit.

    "Real Issues"

Loved this one just like the ones before. This author really hits some hard issues and shows they can over come every thing that comes at them. I loved how the heroine delt with the drug issue's makes the characters seem so real.
