Book 8 of the Fatal series from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Marie Force.
As a new year dawns in the capital city, dual scandals rock the Metropolitan Police Department - and Lieutenant Sam Holland is right in the middle of them. Chief Farnsworth is catching heat for the way he handled a recent homicide investigation, and Detective Gonzales is accused of failing to disclose an earlier connection to the judge who decided his custody hearing.
When Gonzo's fight for his child turns deadly and he has a shaky alibi, Sam must defend two of her closest colleagues. All while her husband, Vice President Nick Cappuano, settles into his new office at the White House.
Nick begins to wonder if the president is using him for a political boost, and his worries mount over a complication in the plans to adopt Scotty at a time when Sam is being put through the wringer by the always-rabid DC press corps. As the evidence against Gonzo piles up, Sam suspects someone is gunning for her - and her team.

"Great Addition To The Series"
Having read all the seven books which came before this new addition to the series, I can testify that this novel once again, comes through, so to speak, for all of us who absolutely love these characters and the rock'em sock'em quality to their lives, both independently of one another and together.
Sam is once again that complicated mixture of passion and vulnerability covered over by her fierce loyalty to those she loves and with whom she works and seasoned with her complete irreverence for the expectations of polite society. Her bond with Nick is as enduring as the granite of Yosemite's El Capitan, her love for Scotty as protective as any grizzly bear mom, and the depth of her sense of justice knows no bounds.
Nick is amazing as her husband, her lover, and the father every kid would want. And as is the case in all the preceding novels in this series, the action is non-stop, the intensity is as consistent as one would expect in the life of high profile individuals, and the repartee between Sam and all her friends and family as sparkling and humorous as ever.
Sam's life is already complicated but being the Second Lady of the land makes it even more so. In the midst of all that, old enemies make new problems as it appears that Sam's entire team and the police department is under fire and taking their share of political hits. So be prepared for more of what makes all the "Fatal Series" some of the best reading around.
Those who love hot romance mixed with humor, mystery, and political drama will love this novel. If this is your first go around with Sam and Nick, please start with book one. You owe it to yourself to experience everything about their relationship up to this present story. All in all, this is a worthy addition to a marvelous series.
Eva Kaminsky was outstanding with the delivery of the story.
"So so novel really well narrated"
I keep trying to like Marie Force novels as so many other do, but they are simply do not fit my taste. The best thing about this Fatal series of audiobooks is narration by Eva Kaminsky.
Hope there's a book 9 can't wait for the rest of series . I think nike is going to be persent
"Love this series!"
This is my second time to read the Fatal Series. I find when reading Ms. Force, I
read fast the first time & the succeeding times much slower so I can savor the story. The character development was terrific & I know all the people much better. I hope
"Frenzy " & "Identity " won't be the last books in the Fatal Series.
I LOVE this series - cases are engaging - Sam and Nick and all their friends are richly drawn Charecters - audiobooks are really satisfying too. Highly recommend.
"The best series I ever Read!"
Eva is PHENOMENAL! I hate to get to the end because I feel so incomplete! She brings the characters to life!!!! The absolute best!!!! Thank You Marie Force for creating such memorable characters and thank you Eva for bringing them to life during my commute!!!
"Good story, but.,,,,,"
Good story, but the lengthy passages on sex made me almost give up on the story.
"Whiney women and Syrupy Sweet men"
Take out the way too explicit sex scenes and the unbelievable situations and you may have a mediocre short story! Totally unbelievable situations, but then it is fiction.
"this is the best yet"
I love it, I can't wait to see what happens next. this story need to continue, I'm so in love with it. and Eva make it so much fun I love her as narrated. Please Marie don't stop there I need more. Thank you
"Worth the wait and the credit"
Loved all of the plotlines and the dialogues. Nick and Scotty were less perfect which works for me.
