Inauguration day is almost here....
Lieutenant Sam Holland is on leave, recovering from an attack that shook her to the core. With no case to distract her, she's trying to stay busy - even voluntarily meeting with her new White House staff. But it's not enough to keep the horrific memories at bay, and her family is worried...especially her husband, Vice President Nick Cappuano.
Nick is dealing with his own demons where his wife's safety is concerned, losing night after night of sleep as he works to make sure what happened that day will never happen again. The pressure is building inside the Cappuanos' marriage, and something's got to give before Nick takes the oath of office.
When two college girls go missing in the midst of inauguration madness, the chief of police needs the one cop he can count on to find them and save the Metro PD from disgrace. In a case full of ugly twists and turns, Sam will have to confront her past and find her strength again...before it's too late.

"Wow! What A Fantastic Book"
I have listened to books #1 through #9 in the Fatal series all of them are really good. I couldn't put them down once I was swept into the world of Nick, Sam and their family and friends.
There are a lot of emotional ups and downs in Fatal Frenzy (and the other books as well), and Ms. Force made me feel them all. Her character development is amazing. I loved getting to know not only the main characters but also the people around them.
There's Gonzo (a detective who works with Sam) and Christina (Nick's former chief of staff), Freddie (another detective) and Elin, Skip and Celia (Sam's parents), and especially Scotty their adopted son. I could go on to name all the other characters I love but I won't. You'll have to listen to this series so you can be introduced to them yourself. (Be sure to listen to this series in order. Don't forget One Night With You, which tells how Sam and Nick met.) As always, Sam's family (and extended family) anchor her as she deals first with the aftermath of her kidnapping (in prior book) and then with the loss of one of her detectives. It's that good. Ms. Force's dialogue is fantastic. The banter between characters is so well written that it drew me in.
I love discovering new authors and Marie Force has quickly become a favorite of mine. I haven't read any of her other contemporary novels, but will certainly be giving them a try.
Eva Kaminsky is one of my favourite authors and she was outstanding with the delivery of this story
"I am tired of the author switching between narrators. "
I am tired of the narrator changing in this series. Avery Hill has lost his accent from the beginning of this series. Which returns in book ten. Not this current book 9. Sam Scotty and tinkerbell's voices sound off in book 10.
I have enjoyed the series so far, and don't want it to end in the 11th book. I would love to see Sam get pregnant. Great character development in this series.
This is the best book yet in this series. I shed many tears. Marie Force does an amazing job making you feel the emotions of the characters.
"Nick Needs to Stop Hitting Sam"
Except for a few disturbing incidents of domestic abuse, Fatal Frenzy is an engrossing & entertaining novel involving family drama, friendships, police work and romance. Marie Force created a diverse group of unique characters, and Eva Kaminsky's incredible voice brought them to life.
I really enjoyed the first 4 books in this series - finally a strong female 30+ character (Sam) who is smart, confident and funny. For a while Nick (politician) seemed to genuinely appreciate Sam, flaws & all, and NOT be threatened by her profession or tough manner. Nick was the perfect romantic hero, appearing to be humble, thoughtful, sexy and respectful toward women.
Then Nick started to HIT Sam, under the guise of erotic play, as if a caring husband would deliberately hurt the woman he claims to love & adore. Even more unbelievably, Sam allowed him to dominate and humiliate her body and mind. Get real! Sam's character wouldn't take crap from any man under any circumstances.
While the sexual violence was only a small part of this novel, I found the author's attempt to romanticize domestic abuse very offensive. There is absolutely nothing loving, sexy or erotic about a man who ENJOYS hurting another human being.
"9 audio Books in 6 Days"
Just finished book 9, can hardly wait for the next one. First series that never got boring after about 3 stories. Eva Kaminsky is mr favourite narrator and Felicity Munroe did a great job as well. I will be so sorry when this series is over, it has the right amount of romance and suspense with some laughs and tears both happy and sad thrown in . Thankyou Marie Force Keep the series going!
I need more. I've enjoyed all of the Fatal Series. I laughed, cried, loved and hate. Emotions that I didn't know I could feel just listening to a book. The characters seem so real. Thank you for the fantastic series of books Marie Force. You're an amazing, incredible, writer.
I love Marie Force books, but I would never purchase another book narrated by Eva Kaminsky
Haven't completed yet.
She drops the last word of every sentence so predominantly that it is difficult to hear (or not hear at all). She does this especially with the voice for Nick. I hate that I ordered this book via Audible and not Whispersync. At least with Whispersync I could follow along and look at the text when I cannot understand or hear her words. Very poor narration. I am a Platinum Audible Member and I have listened to books where I did not like the narration; but never have I listened to a book that I want to stop reading because of the narration -- not the story line.
Extremely poor narration. You cannot hear every word because she drops her voice at the end of the sentence so low that the word is lost. It's frustrating to keep rewinding to hear the narration and takes away from the pleasure of reading the book via Audible.
"FULL OF SURPRISES NEVER DISAPPOINTING!"
Tragic loss hurls Sam back to headquarters. Nick launches Twitter campaign to reach Gen X.!
"One of the better in the Fatal Series"
I like the Fatal series by Marie Force, and Book 9 has continued the story in a surprising and interesting way. The characters are generally consistent with the main characters exhibiting growth and change.
It has to be when Sam tackles the wanted murderer during the Inaugural Parade.
This series has had several different readers which is disconcerting and annoying. Eva's performance is OK, but not much distinction between the character voices. The best reader (of the three) is Felicity Monroe and I wish she had done all of them.
Pretty much. I did it in two as nighttime intervened.
I like that the author is exploring alternate ways that the Second Lady of the US can serve both her unpaid position in support of her husband and keep her own job as a Detective. It's an interesting concept. Maybe Sam could start by petitioning the government to pay wages to the very hard-working first and second ladies of the US.
I also wish the author would stop with the constant references to Sam not being able to have a baby and Nick wanting her to have one and blah blah blah. Tiresome, truly.
