Summary

Falling in love with the wrong man could be disastrous in Jill Mansell's delicious best seller Falling for You....

Maddy Harvey was a bit of an ugly duckling as a teenager, what with her NHS specs, unfortunate hair and wonky teeth. Thankfully she's blossomed since then. But when she meets Kerr McKinnon one starry summer's night and discovers, days later, who he actually is...well, that's when the problems really start.

Because everyone in Ashcombe knows what happened 11 years ago, and as far as her mother's concerned, Marcella would rather tear that family to pieces with her bare hands than see Maddy associate with a McKinnon.

It's Romeo and Juliet all over again. Quick, hide those sharp knives and that little bottle of poison....

Good story - shame about the narration!

The storyline was excellent. I enjoyed the twists in the relationships between characters. The only thing that spoiled it was the narrator's flat voice and lack of characterisation.

Falling for you

Great story but part of a chapter is missing an important conversation between Kerry and his brother. I love all of jills books so a little disappointed

Meh. Okay

Story was okay, had some potential but rubbish ending.
Narrator quite annoying. Entire conversation in a chapter was missing too.

Narrator makes it a tough listen

I've listened to a lot of JM books and books narrated by Sarah Barron - however this was not a match made in heaven. The narration sounds smug - so much saliva and swallowing sounds - and character voices that are OTT and a bit insufferable. Not a great story - it takes a long time to really get to it and there is a lot of repetition in the middle and then it ALL wraps up within a sentence....! Not her best.

Good book. Enjoyable story.

The story is good. A bit complicated to start, with a lot of characters. What spoiled it for me was the reader and her accents. Terrible north east accent, laughable. Would have been good to have different readers for different characters.

Half a phone conversation missing...

Chapter 54 has a one-sided phone conversation, where half of it seems to be missing. A bit weird!
Other than that, it's another lovely and typical Jill Mansell feelgood story! The narrator has a bit of a sleepy voice, not my favourite, but not intolerable. Would recommend!

Loved it but poor ending

When you have waited the whole book for the happy ending I really want a whole chapter of it. Not just one sentence. Please please write a proper ending with much more detail and story otherwise it is just a let down .

Bombarded with so many characters

Just couldn't keep up with all the characters and the narration was depressingly dull. No light moments to alleviate such a bleak storyline.
Gave up by chapter five and returned.
Really disappointing.

Romantic and funny, this is a good read.

A small town where the past catches up with everyone. Good characters that you can relate to.
