"Slow Start But I Loved The Book"
What did you love best about Emerald Buddha?

Joe. I really liked his character. He made me laugh all the way thru the book.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Hmmmm......I would have been listening to Joe Ledger. This book was just fine the way it was. I enjoyed the whole thing. The tin foil hat twist that it took was awesome.

What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?

It's RAY PORTER people. What ISN'T there to like about Ray Porter. Sheesh.

If you could take any character from Emerald Buddha out to dinner, who would it be and why?

    Probably the Emerald Buddha.

    Any additional comments?

I've read all the comments making jest of this series. I have to say I like it. It's not rocket science. It's entertaining as all get out. AND it's narrated by Ray Porter. I'm glad I came into the series late. The third book comes out in a couple weeks. I can't wait.

"Too much CIA and political intrigue."

Love the characters including the latest addition - Joe, but would prefer more treasure hunting and less political stuff. Ray Porter was great as usual but for me this book was definitely not as good as Ramsey's Gold. I found the political stuff too formula and boring.

"Fun read, but the characters are 2d"

These books are great beach reads, but you can't go in expecting a lot of character development. if actually say the female lead is becoming more damsel in distress than she was in the first book. And Drake is even more winey. But hey, the gun fights are well written, the pacing is good, and the stories wrap up nicely in the end.

    "Entertaining, If Not Predictable"

I enjoyed the continued adventures of the characters, although they need to become multi-dimensional. The heroine has not lived up to the hype of the first novel of the series; this is a disservice to women. I could write a series of novels developing her character based on the strong women I have encountered in my personal and military life.

    "Disappointing too much political"

No real treasure hunting. Too much political input that had no ending. Characters did speak much just regular narration. I like the first book so much but this wasn't up to par. Definitely would not recommend

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Kind of like when Back to the Future did all the movies together...gets watered down. It was OK, thank the Lord for Ray, I think it would have flopped without him

Would you recommend Emerald Buddha to your friends? Why or why not?

Eh. I would say Eh, first one was really cool, second one was OK

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    always good

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    I have kids

    Any additional comments?

keep it going with some umph! Then I will keep listening

    "More spying than treasurehunting"

Not my cup of tea. Nontheless it is not a bad book. The general idea behind these books seems to be an action movie following a certain niché with a tad of drama and or romance. With that said I enjoyed the first book a lot more which had more of a focus on the mystery of this long lost treasure as well as the mystery of the main character an his relatives past. Which I felt was lacking in this book. Bu then again I only half-listened to most of the book since there was not much interesting going on.

I might give the third installment a look when it comes out. As long as Ray Porter does the narration.
