Publisher's Summary

Set in ninth-century England and Norway, Dream of Me tells the story of Wolf Hakonson, a fierce Norse chief who falls in love when he kidnaps the sister of his rival, Hawk, a prominent Saxon lord. Wolf marries the lovely Cymbra but their wedded bliss is short-lived. First the women of the settlement refuse to accept their Saxon mistress who turns out to have emphatic abilities, and then Wolf must face the wrath of his brother-in-law. Inevitably, true love triumphs, but the peace brought about by their union is precarious.

    "dissapointing"

The problem that I had with this is that I thought the story was very, very good. But as i'm reviewing this as an audio book i have to take the overall end product into account.I felt that the big drawback was with the narrator. She was very mechanical and at some points she sounded like one of those machines that replicates voices. Her characterisations suffered for this and it seemed that she was much more concerned with her diction than instilling emotion into her voice. A very monotone experience. I am now going to go and buy the book to read myself as I know I will enjoy this more.

"If you like vikings and romance......."

This was one of my first audible buys and one I have listened to many times over the years. This is pure viking romance, hot and full of adventure, it is bit less predictable then your average romance novel. A pleasure to listen to!!!! The narrator annoyed me at first but I eventually got used to her. The 2nd and 3rd book in this series are also available on audible and are just as enjoyable. I have always hoped that the next 3 of Josie Litton's Akoran Series would be brought out on audiobook format but four years on and I am still waiting and doubt they will be now :(....

    "Great escape"

This romance was pure escapist fun. The characters were reasonably well developed and the story was not as predictable as most trashy romances are. The relationship between the two leads was believable and touching. The narrator carried me along all the way as if she were telling me a grown-up bedtime story. I loved curling up with this during a winter storm.

    "10% Plot, 40% Sex & 50% Talking about Sex"

    Predictable, clich?d & sickly sweet
I was looking forward to an interesting historical novel with a bit of romance, but this is basically a very soppy romance (read sex) novel with just the tiniest bit of history as a backdrop.

I don't mind romance but this was so predictable. I should have known when I read that the names of the main characters were Wolf, Dragon and Hawk. Every description of bodies or sex was so clich?d. I very quickly had enough of marbled thighes and granite shoulders - please be a bit more imaginative. The sex scenes, of which there are many, are so contrived and unbelievable that they deserve to be put in a new genre beyond fantasty.

It is a shame that the bones of a such a good story could be clothed in such poor writing.

"I won't be bothering with the next 2"

When I read the reviews about this book, I expected a heart jerking, soul wrenching, historical romance. I picked it up with the intention of getting the whole series. I was hopeful that my book choices were made for the next 3 books.

Sadly, I was let down. I found the book's plot to be very predictable and rather common.

And although I love a randy romance novel, the sexual scenes in this book were often beyond fictional. I assume the author wanted us to understand the depth of the passion of the couple, but there were so many repeated erections that it actually started to get boring, and I found myself fast forwarding thru a few of them!! I began to wonder if there was something wrong with men today? Is it just normal for 9th century Vikings to have complete intercourse 5 or 6 times in one night.

Anyway. The story was cute, but predicable. The main characters as cute and predictable as the story itself.

All in all, I guess I can say it is not as much as I expected based on other reviews.

I will not be bothering with the next books in the series.

    "oh well"

i respect that there be novels for all tastes. i was excited to get this audio book since i'm second generation norwegian. i didn't realize it was going to be so much description of bodily perfection and function volume i mean VOLUME ..of all manner of sexual function..etc.. and so little else... if you like to read about perfect breasts, skin, hard muscled male and a lover like a "stallion" .., this is for you. i'm going back to things like Amy Tan with The BoneSetter's Daughter, etc.
just to tell others who want to find the novel i was looking for that this isn't it.
for those who like this type of...you enjoy.every author should truly have fans. i'm not being sarcastic.

    "Wonderful Author"

This was a great book! If you like Nora Roberts mystic books you will love this author. The narrator is one of the best I've listened to. I have listened to all of the books Ms Litton has on Audible and hope she does more soon. I am a very picky listener so it is hard to find things I like and narrators I can tolerate.

    "RECLASSIFY THIS AS EROTICA PLEASE!!!!"

I started to like the book and thought it had an interesting well thought story in the beginning; then unfortunately the author might have run out of imagination and the story stops evolving and becomes all sexuality with very descriptive details and unnecessary repetitive of the same act. I have to say that Josephine Bailey is one of my favorites because she is just wonderful. However, this book was so hollow that not even her excellent performance can save it. I am in the middle of this book but I do not think I will be able to finish it. I am sick of the step-by-step description of every time the couple in the story decide to have intimacy. There is no substance to this story at this point and I am very disappointed.

"LOVED IT!!! In fact Loved em ALL"

This book was one you didn't want to end. Good thing there's 2 more after this one. I enjoyed every minute of it and some days couldn't shut off the car. In fact, I brought the book in the house to finish it. Loved the characters, humor, mystery, steamy sex and the little bit of magicial powers. The norse and saxon historial information was interesting but kept limited so it didn't become a history lesson. Already finished book 2 and am almost done with 3. LOVED each one. Betcha can't listen to just one.... I've added Josie Litton to one of my fav authors.
