Summary

An irresistible, heart-warming novel from the much-loved author of numerous Sunday Times best sellers, including A Walk in the Park and To the Moon and Back.

Dexter Yates loves his fun, care-free London life; he has money, looks and girlfriends galore. But everything changes overnight when his sister dies, leaving him in charge of her eight-month-old daughter Delphi. How is he ever going to cope? Comic-strip artist Molly Hayes lives in the beautiful Cotswold village of Briarwood. When it comes to relationships, she has a history of choosing all the wrong men. Leaving the city behind, Dex moves to Briarwood - a much better place to work on his parenting skills - and he and Molly become neighbours. There's an undeniable connection between them. But if Dexter's going to adapt, he first has a lot to learn about Molly, about other people's secrets... and about himself.

Lovely listen

I have really enjoyed this book. It was very well read with good voices for the different characters. I also enjoyed the story even though it was quite a predictable ending. You did feel that you knew the village and it's inhabitants. The only thing I did not like was the baby sounds! An earth mother I am not!

A Lovely Story

Another lovely, heartwarming story from Jill Mansell. The characters are very likeable and the book flows nicely. The voice of the reader is also very easy to listen to.

Feel good story

This is a brilliantly compiled funny romantic story that I really enjoyed and could not put down. Loveable characters and lots of laugh out loud moments. Ms. Mansell manages to draw the reader into her world of romance and definitely leaves the reader feeling good at the end of her stories.

heartwarming and funny

Where does Don't Want to Miss a Thing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say although it is not in my top ten it was a very good book and very funny. it is one I would think about reading again and it has made me interested enough to make me think about trying something else by this author.

Have you listened to any of Clare Corbett’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I am a big fan of Clare Corbett as a narrator, she is fantastic whatever she reads and can do most accents. I am a massive fan of her so was happy when I learned she was the narrater for this book.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

a heartwarming and whitty drama.

Any additional comments?

I got this book based on a friends recommendation and I even read it without looking at the synopsis first which is very un common for me. Usually I like to know what a book is about before reading however due to this person having suggested books to me that I have enjoyed in the past I decided to take the plunge with this one. I have to say I am glad I did as I liked the excitement of not knowing what the book was going to be about before hand.

Loved every moment

Would you consider the audio edition of Don't Want to Miss a Thing to be better than the print version?

I'm afraid I can't comment as I haven't read the print version. All I can say is as this is an unabridged audio book I heard everything you would read from a book. I personally feel the audio version always adds to the enjoyment of the book, well only if you have a good narrator which this book does.

What other book might you compare Don't Want to Miss a Thing to, and why?

I haven't read any other books with this storyline so it's hard to answer. I would however say if you read the authors book called "To the moon and back" then you'll like this other book by her too.

What does Clare Corbett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I thought she was a great narrator and I loved how she was different for each character. You wouldn't get this with a book, even if you imagine in your head. She sets the scene well and makes you love each character.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I did, there were times of sadness and happiness amoung other emotions. I think a sign of a good book and a good narrator make a big difference to your emotional reaction.

Any additional comments?

I have only read one of her books before, her others had yet to draw me in from their description but this one did. I read the description and thought I'd love this book. I then saw the reviews and was worried by the negative comments. I am glad I went with my gut and choose this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the book from beginning to end, in fact I was sad when it finished. Very good story, not always predictable and the narrator really made this a very enjoyable read. Give this book a try, if the description made you want to buy then I know you'll love this book.
