Dick, AKA Devil Dog's world changes drastically when the EMP takes out the power grid. The loss of electricity brings out the darker side of human nature across the city. A homeless Marine veteran living in the abandoned tunnels beneath Chicago, he's far better prepared than most people. Good folk have survived, but they are often outnumbered and outgunned. Only the tunnels provide the safety he needs.
Devil Dog becomes the reluctant savior of women and children from the worst of the gangs that now rule topside. Doing the right thing makes him new enemies, driving him ever deeper into the tunnels that keep his charges safe - until he runs across a young woman who might be his daughter.

In the top 10.
I dont recall a specific moment or moments. The story is rather unique in the post-apocalyptic genre. Kevin Pierce is a great choice in narrator for this story.
A good narrator is always the difference between a good and bad listening experience. In this example, Kevin Pierce was a good choice.
This story is overall really good. Most authors chose to use either a law enforcement or military background as their primary character. Many times that idea can be over played, but in this case, the author sets up the story differently. As the story continues in the subsequent continuations, its a very compelling story. This story has a very down to earth feel to it. I'm very happy with this story and I have enjoyed the continuations and look forward to the story continuing.
"Cant wait for book 2"
great story, the narration was spot on and the characters were brought to life by the parts they portrayed....hopefully there is a book 2
"Too much unnecessary profanity"
I enjoyed the basic idea of this book and enjoyed The narration – although character performance would have been nice – but why all of the gratuitous and excessive profanity? Guess some people think that's necessary to be cool. How very sad ...
"Great Start & A Hidden Gem!!"
Great Start & A Hidden Gem!! I can't wait to see where this story goes!! I am glad I found this Gem!! most books are done over a hundred different ways just told a bit differently by each author! THIS HOWEVER WAS A UNIQUE STORY & I LOVED IT!! The Narrator Kevin did a good job bringing the story to life!!
"great short book"
quick paced book. Good, realistic, funny, sad, and to the point. cost was a little high for such a short book but I have no regrets and I'll buy the next book too.
"Action Suspense and the Apocalypse"
This audiobook was given to me at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review, thanks Audiobook Boom.
I really enjoyed this story! Alas, it has no zombies, an EMP has brought the world as we know it to a sudden stop. It's how one man copes with his changed world. It well written and narrated and this book could definitely become a series. Bonus? The story gave great survival tips, what more could you ask for?
"Kevin Pierce strike again."
I have not read the print version of Devil Dog.
Kevin Pierce’s performance was flawless as always.
The main character Dick A.K.A the Devil Dog. I found that some of the most emotional scenes of the book were the parts when he kept mistaking people for his wife and daughter.
I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com.
"Just what I needed!"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. So often in PA books the hero is perfect at everything. That gets a little old after awhile. The "hero" in this book wasn't perfect, he was a flawed man doing the best he could under the circumstances. His flaw made him more real to me and you will find Devil Dog to be a guy that you are cheering for.
My complaint is one I often make with books under 10 hours - it was too short! As a avid reader/listener I can fly through books like this - especially ones that I lose myself in. I was provided this book in exchange for a review. Mr. Craven if you see this, thanks for the listen, great book BUT please write longer ones so I can get a few more hours of enjoyment please!!
"Book 1...ill buy the rest"
I really enjoyed the story. A wounded veteran takes refuge in the storm sewers of Chicago. A great mix of heroism and real life problems.
"Kinda weak....especially the ending."
So, as a retired Marine I am somewhat qualified to comment on the "Marine" aspects, which in my opinion seemed too canned. The worst part of the book, the end almost seemed as if he got bored and wanted to get doing something else....will not be buying other books by this author....which is not normal for me, I like follow on series.
