Publisher's Summary

Heather Luth knows nothing about the paranormal world until one awful night changes everything. Now she's on the run - straight into the arms of forbidden love. Her mind knows better than to fall for a werewolf's sunny smile and mesmerizing voice, but her heart - and destiny - have other ideas.

On the surface, Cody Hawthorne is warm, witty, and fun, but beneath his carefree facade, Heather sees a real man struggling to break free. Day by day, Heather and Cody grow closer and closer, unable to resist their simmering passion - while day by day, a serial murderer closes in on his prey. Duty fights desire; fear wrestles trust as the human world clashes with the paranormal in a tale of forbidden love.

There's more than meets the eye on Twin Moon Ranch, home to a pack of shapeshifting wolves willing to battle for life and love.

A paranormal romance with adult content. The perfect listen for fans of strong heroines, alpha heroes, werewolves and shapeshifters, vampires, red-hot cowboys, romantic westerns, paranormal suspense, action-adventure romance, and fantasy romance!

    Story
"2nd son tries to emerge from brother's shadow"

I am voluntarily submitting my honest review after receiving an ARC of the audiobook generously provided by the author.

In this enchanting sequel to Desert Moon, we return to Twin Moon Ranch as Cody comes into his own. Most of his life, considered a playboy and jokster, Cody has lived in the shadow of his brother, Alpha wolf shifter Ty. But Cody now feels ready to step up and claim a more important role in the pack and find a mate of his own. Investigating a series of murders a little too close to the Ranch is the chance he needs to prove his worth. And when Heather Luth arrives and accepts a temporary teaching job, Cody knows almost right away that she is his mate. The only problem--she's human, and she clearly is hiding secrets of her own--secrets that keep her from trusting men. As this enchanting novel unfolds and Ty and Heather rediscover themselves and each other, the author's descriptions bring the desert alive. This book is by turns uplifting and inspiring as we see Ty and Heather become the people they are meant to be, then heartbreaking and maddening when we see outside forces conspire against them. The story and well-drawn characters draw you in and you just can't help but cheer them on! I think my experience of this novel was enhanced by having previously read Desert Moon, I think you could probably still like this book just as much as a standalone novel. I listened to the audiobook version of Desert Blood, and I highly recommend experiencing the book this way. The narrator's sense of timing and pace is spot on--especially during the steamy scenes which she somehow makes even hotter! Her smooth, lyrical voice, combined with Anna Lowe's descriptive prose truly makes the desert come to life if you close your eyes while listening to certain passages of the book. This is a great series that fans of shifter fiction are sure to enjoy!

This book is great. I love the characters of Heather and Cody. Cody is hot, fun, sweet and loyal to those he loves. Heather strong sweet and lovable. Heather starts out clueless about werewolves but falls for Cody hard. Their romance is Hot and steamy. Add to that the danger from the serial killer into the mix and you have HOT intriguing shifter romance MUST READ book.

    NARRATOR REVIEW.....

    Story
    "I really enjoyed this sequel!"

I really enjoyed this sequel and the two main characters in this story. I loved Cody from the first book and Heather was easy to like as well. I loved Cody’s easy-going personality compared to Ty’s. I also understood why he choose to be the comedian. I disliked how negatively Ty and his father judged him. As for Heather, I absolutely loved her spirit and willingness to fight for herself. No wilting flower here. Her innate understanding of Cody was wonderful. I like how fiercely she was willing to defend him when needed.

The kids were great for the humorous aspect of the story. It was easy to fall in love with them especially the class clown, Timmy. He’s a little charmer. I was glad that Heather took a special interest in him.

Ms. Lowe did an excellent job of weaving the love story with humor, mystery and suspense. I appreciated that the characters in this story didn’t have quite as much internal dialogue as the first story. That helped the story actually flow better. I can’t wait to read the next one.

    Any additional comments?

This can be listened to as a standalone. As I have not listened to the first book as of yet. The Cody and Heather are fun and relatable, as we follow them on their journey at Twin Moon Ranch. As shapeshifters, there is more than meets they eye, especially as both Cody and Heather grow into their respective roles.

I voluntarily reviewed Desert Blood as a gifted copy from the author.

    "I love this series"

The second story in the Twin Wolves series is about Heather and Cody. Heather is a human who has had a run in with a vampire and fled her home to get away from him. She knows no one will believe her, since vampires don't exist, right?

Cody is the son of the pack Alpha, and thus there are certain expectations of him. When he finds himself falling for the pretty little human school teacher, he knows he is in big trouble. He is also on the hunt for a bunch of vampires that are murdering woman in the southwest. It is hard to keep his focus on the hunt, when all he wants to do is be with Heather.

Can these two find their way to each other? Can Cody find the vampires before they kill again?

The audio version of this book was gifted to me by the author.

    "Cody and Heather's story"
Would you listen to Desert Blood again? Why?

I enjoyed Cody and Heather's story. There's humor, mystery, romance, suspense.... all mixed together with a dash of paranormal.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked the progression of Heather since she was clueless to the wolves.

    Any additional comments?

I thought the story was great. Book 1 was good, but in my opinion Book 2 was a better listen for me.

    Story
"A very enjoyable way to reconnect with these books"

I have surprisingly enjoyed listening to this book and it is interesting that the audible version gives one a different perspective of the story.
Cody comes across as more grown up and interesting, with real thoughts and feelings in audible than reading the book.
Loved Heather and when she is attacked, the tension was felt way more when listening.
I have really enjoyed listening and picking up subtle differences in the story from my memories. I also found it interesting that listening makes you pick up parts you don't give much credence too.
Good descriptive narration but I still find it strange having one person do all the voices. I do have to speed the narration up to 1.25 as it seems too slow at normal speed for me. I would also like a bit more inflection when it is called for.
In summation I have to say I am enjoying listening to audible books as the convenience is fantastic. I can do so many things while listening to a book.
I have read and reviewed this book and have included that review below but this audible book was a gift from the author.
These books are also in Volume sets and are great value for money as well as containing bonus short stories related to these couples.

    Book Review
What a great read. Loved this couple.
It was great to see Cody coming of age in this book, he needed his story told and Heather was the perfect woman for him.
Cody is Ty’s younger brother and has been ignored by his father as he was not the heir.
He spent his time doing little work and womanising a lot. He decides to change his life for himself and then Heather arrives. A human who is off limits, yeah, tell that to his wolf.
He is also helping the law track what is happening when bodies start turning up drained of blood. When he pieces it together that Heather is the target all bets are off.
Heather is running from the evil that killed her friend but cannot tell anyone because they would think she was crazy. She takes on the temporary teaching post at the ranch which gives her time to breath and think through what she will do next.
Heather is drawn to Cody but keeps hearing about his womanising and seeing him with different women all over the place, usually innocently. As she spends time with him she sees the man he wants to be.
She has enough on her plate as it is without dealing with him.
Fate has other ideas and when the vampires catch up with Heather, Cody will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Even defy his father. Unfortunately to save Heather he has to bring forth his wolf which pushes Heather to run away as her mind is on overload. Vampires, now wolf shifters. Just too much to cope with.
What happens when Heather returns to the ranch?
A lovely enjoyable read. I just wish we could get rid of that horrible father.
