Summary
Mord in der Berliner Staatsoper: der berühmte italienische Tenor Malfitano wird im dritten Akt von Puccinis Tosca erschossen. Der Täter: ein stadtbekannter Klavierstimmer und Meister seines Fachs, der schon in Karajans Diensten stand. Wie konnte es zu diesem unfassbaren Geschehen kommen? Die Kinder des "Mörders", die Zwillinge Patrice und Patricia, reisen überstürzt nach Berlin. Jahre zuvor waren sie vor ihrer inzestuösen Liebe an verschiedene Enden der Welt geflohen. Ihr Wiedersehen und die unbegreifliche Schuld des Vaters führen zu einer radikalen Umkehr. Während sie schreibend ergründen, was ihren Vater, der eigentlich ein glückloser Opernkomponist war, zur Waffe greifen ließ, begegnen sie einander in einem befreienden Akt des Erinnerns.
Spannend wie in einem Krimi lotet Mercier in dieser Familientragödie einmal mehr das Psychodrama radikalen Scheiterns aus.
