Summary

Dark Island begins as the Napoleonic wars are drawing to a close. The year is 1815. On the battlefield near Waterloo, a surgeon-major in the Highland Brigade tends the mortally wounded padre.

When the wars are over, to honour a promise to his dying friend, Aeneas Graham, the surgeon journeys to a remote Hebridean island called Erismore. This small , seemingly Christian island becomes a mystical and supernatural setting for another battle against menacing forces, Satanic and villainous, which stifle rumours of murder and corruption.

This powerful and gripping story by Nigel Tranter was orginally published under the title Island Twilight.

Before he dies he delivers a final message to Aeneas Graham, and asks him to save the people of Erismore. And this shows human conflicts their promises and understanding, thoughts about the battle. This audio book is very unique story line that is well constructed story and great characters, very believable till the end.
